“You’re sleeping with him?” Jason asked. He sounded genuinely hurt.
“Sir, I don’t know if you heard me, but I said they’re fucking. Trust me, there isn’t any sleeping going on between the two of them,” Cara said.
The room erupted in laughter at Cara’s comment. Leave it to her to dump salt on his fresh wounds.
“Why, Rebekah?” Jason had a few tears streaming down his face.
She lifted her head with pride. “He is my master. It is my job to make him happy and follow his word.”
I turned around, astonished by this confession. I saw most of the brothers were fully in tune with this show, like it was a fuckin’ soap opera. I thought we would come here and kill their assess and go on our way. I didn’t expect skeletons to come flying out of their closets.
“You know it makes sense your name is Rebekah,” Cara said to her. Rebekah’s brows dipped in confusion. “You know, the wife of Isaac in the Bible. While she meant to do good, she was a trickster, a con artist, and a deceitful woman. She lied and connived her husband and manipulated her own children.”
Everyone, except her siblings, stared at her in shock. Cara didn’t necessarily give off religious vibes. Even Sire seemed blown away.
“Since when do you know the Bible?” Thor asked the burning question.
Cara rolled her eyes. “My nana made us go to church every Sunday. I learned a few things.”
I shook my head, completely over this entire situation. I had heard enough. “You know what, let’s get to what we came here for. Bear, Cara, Sara, do your thing,” I said and stepped aside.
Cara bounced on her feet. “It’s about time. This sappy shit was getting on my nerves.” Cara snatched her gun from the holster on her hip and shot Rebekah right between the eyes.
Jason let out a blood-curdling scream. “Rebekah!” he cried.
I was thoroughly confused about why he was so hurt. She just confessed to cheating on him as if it were nothing. He turned to Cara, fury swirling in his eyes. “Don’t worry. You’ll be joining her soon,” Cara said. Just that quickly, his face switched over to horror.
Sara approached Cara’s side. “We’ll get to him next. I want these two right now.” She pointed to the other two disciples.
Chills shot down my arm at the tone of Sara’s voice. While she was a natural sweetheart, pissing her off was a big no-no. She was worse than Cara once you crossed her. We often joked that Sara had to be a fallen angel.
“Same, sis.” Cara held her fist out for a pound. “They really tried to burn a bitch alive.” She snickered.
Sara giggled, nodding her head. “I know, right? After that debacle, I’ll never understand that saying, people in hell want ice water. If hell is that hot, what the fuck is water supposed to do?”
They both fell out in laughter while the rest of us looked at them like they were insane. The girls were truly in rare form tonight.
Cara cracked her neck. “It’s okay, though. Because these two are about to find out just howhotsomeone can get.” She and Sara removed the disciples’ gags while giving them devious smirks. Cara leaned over in front of one of them as he shied away in fear. “I remember when I saw you throw that Molotov through the window. You had such a bright smile on your face.”
“Please—”
“Don’t beg. It’s useless.” She turned to the other one. “And you winked while dumping kerosene into the fire. Well, let’s see how happy you are in about five minutes.”
The girls went over to one of the cabinets, and both produced a gas canister. Every single brother moved further back in the room. I knew they were going to go hard, but this right here was not what I was expecting.
They started pouring what smelled like gas on them from head to toe. Bear flanked them, holding a fire extinguisher. I guess he knew the plan all along. By the time the girls were done dousing them in the liquids, both men were a blubbering mess.
“Before I light your asses up like the Fourth of July, I want to give you a little story time.” She hopped on top of the steel table, crossing her legs while Sara leaned against it. “Back when I was eight, my triplet Torch and I, who is right over there…” she paused and pointed at him. He shook his head, staring at his sister, bewildered. “Had a fascination for fire.”
“Really?” Viper inquired with a tilted head. “You never told me that.”
Cara sighed. “I know. I try not to think about that. The punishment was so not worth the crime. But, any who. One day, we were lighting up my mother's plastic plants. If you’ve never done that shit, trust me, it's fun. They spark up, giving you a rush. Torch ended up dropping his when the flames grew too fast. We stomped it out, but it left a huge burn mark on the carpet.” Cara side-eyed Torch, and he smacked his teeth, making most of us laugh.
She paused to take a drink of water while the rest of us sat here and listened to her tell this story. To be honest, I wanted to see where she was going with this.
“When my mom came in and saw that shit, woo, let me tell you, she invented the phrase boots to ass. I never had the urge to touch fire again after that. Torch, not so much. Hence the road name. But that night, as I watched you two trap me in a burning building, my desire for fire was ignited again. So, as a thank you, I figured you two should be the first things I set on fire.”
Axel doubled over in laughter. “Yo, her ass is certifiably crazy. Did she really say she was going to thank them by setting them on fire?”
