Daniels screamed out as he rushed Desiree who stepped to the side and swiped her leg out, causing Daniels to fall face first to the ground. Desiree just laughed, wiping her mouth with her hand.

“Clumsy there aren’t you, Daniels. How did you become Delta Force again?”

“I’m going to fucking kill you, cunt!” Daniels screamed at her.

Getting back to his feet, Daniels charged her again, this time Desiree stepped into his attack, grabbing by his neck and latching on as she swung to his back and put him in a choke hold. Daniels tried to swing her off of him and started running towards the wall where she knew if he connected, she would be done for.

Instead, she let him go and slid down his body back to her feet. When he connected face first into the wall since he didn’t slow his movements when she’d gotten off his back, she grabbed his head and twisted, effectively snapping his neck.

“Okay, next! Hopefully Mutt is a challenge because I didn’t even break wind off that one.” Desiree taunted as she wiped her forehead with her arm.

Mutt screamed out at her and charged her, knife in hand. Well, shit this was going to hurt like hell.

Desiree blocked his arm, praying she’d hit his forearm and not the knife and twisted his arm at the same time as she punched hard into his Adams apple, making the man choke. He dropped the knife and fell to his knees as his hands grabbed his neck, gasping for air.

Without hesitating, Desiree knelt him hard in the face when she gripped his hair and pulled his head down towards her lifting knee. She heard the loud crunch of his nose at the same time his scream cut off.

Mutt now lay dead on the ground, all his air having been cut off completely. Desiree turned to Stephens and spread her arms out in a “what now” motion.

Stephens clapped slowly and mockingly as he looked at the two men lying dead on the ground. Looks like he was assessing his chances now, but then again, he was trained by the CIA, she wasn’t.

“You know, if I hadn’t been trained by the CIA, I would say I would be pissing my pants and running.”

“There’s still time.” Desiree shrugged at him as she watched the man’s every move.

“Curious, Olly, what would your husband think of you once I’m done with you? Think he would still want you?” Stephens mocked as he looked her up and down.

BANG

Desiree jumped when she heard the gunshot go off. A gush of red started coming out of the third hole in Stephens head as he fell to the ground, dead.

“You won’t get that chance motherfucker! No one touches my wife but me.” Max growled as he walked into the room.

“Dude…what the fuck, man? We talked about this. The CIA wanted him alive for questioning.” Teddy shouted as he watched the man fall to the ground. “Hey, sis. You okay?”

Desiree winced when Max pulled her into his arms. “Yeah. Fucker deserved what Max did. Fuck the CIA and their bring him in for questions bullshit.”

Desiree wrapped her arms around Max and held on. It was finally over.

“I’m taking her to the hospital to get checked out. No one is stopping me.” Max said as he picked her up in his arms and pushed his way out of the building.

“Damn you’re hot when you get demanding and bossy. Where have you been my whole life?” Desiree kissed him before wincing in pain at the movement.

“Behave woman.” Max shook his head at his wife but didn’t stop the smile that came to his lips at her teasing.

Chapter

Thirty-Nine

The next two hours had Desiree telling Max to settle down and that she was alright. He was getting pissy that the doctors were taking forever to deal with her wounds.

She had to apologize to the nurses and remind her husband she was okay and that her wounds were superficial and that she would be healed in a few days.

“Ms. Lewis, I have to say congratulations are in order. Your blood work came back positive for pregnancy. You’re lucky the brawl you were in didn’t cause you to miscarry. You’re free to go home but will be on bed rest for the next three weeks. That includes no sexual activity.”

“It’s Mrs. Blackwell.” Max grumbled at the doctor before stopping the rest of what he had to say and looked at the doctor in shock.

“I’m sorry, did you say that my wife was pregnant and the baby is still good for now?” Max repeated slowly as if he was afraid he’d heard wrong.
