They both laughed at each other, they talked, they loved and repeated it again and again. When it came time to go home, back to Fayetteville, neither of them wanted to leave the paradise they had found.

“I hate that we have to leave in the morning. But Andrea needs our help with this case. I guess we have no choice but to return home.” Desiree sighed as she snuggled into Max’s arms.

“How about this, at least once a month, no matter the season, I’ll rent this cabin and we can come here for a weekend, or even a full week, to get away from everything. This could be our little paradise.” Max offered as he leaned down and kissed her shoulder.

“Too bad the owner doesn’t want to sell this place. It’s perfect. I guess I can see why they wouldn’t sell it.” Desireesighed heavily as she looked around the room as best as she could. “Would be a perfect getaway for us. I guess renting it out would be the next best thing.”

Max couldn’t help the smile that broke out on his lips. If she only knew the plans he had where this place was concerned for her.

“I do have a question for you, hellcat.” Max leaned down to her ear and softly said.

“And what questions is that you have for me, Mr. Beast?” Desiree asked, pretending to be affronted by the nickname he’d given her.

Max let her go and rolled over on the bed to reach for drawer of the nightstand by his side of the bed. He grabbed something and then rolled back over and pulled her back into his arms.

“Well, technically I’m not asking because I’m never letting you get away from me again.” Max said as he nipped her ear and reached for her ring hand.

Max slid his grandmother’s vintage engagement ring onto Desiree’s hand and held it out for her to see. “The only thing I need to ask you is when are we getting married?”

Chapter

Thirty

Desiree found it hard to concentrate while Andrea was talking about the case they were working on. They were discussing possible extraction ideas for the woman they were going to be rescuing in the next couple of days.

Jose and Tiny were also sitting in on the meeting as well as Max, Teddy, Wick, and Rat were there also. Ike had come along with them to just get out of the house, or so he said.

“We have to be careful with this one since the DV is in relation to a cop. Honestly, I say we use the evidence we have against him to make it look like he set it up to kill his wife because he found out she was going to leave him.” Nightshade suggested from her seating.

“True. She’s going to need some serious plastic surgery anyway considering the damage that’s been done to her face. So, that will help her in the long run when it comes to staying away from him. Reaper already has a place for her on the west coast and a place that will help her while she’s healing from the surgery. Thank goodness she’s never gotten any tattoo’s or that would be a bigger issue.” Iris pointed out to the room as she looked over a file.

“Actually, she does have one tattoo. From what we’ve found out, husband made her get a brand on her wrist so that she remembers who she belongs to. Fucker is diabolical.” Tiny announced to the room.

“Is it a brand as in burn brand or a tattoo brand?” Desiree asked, sitting forward as she looked through the file she had in front of her.

“From what we could tell, it’s a tattoo.” Jose answered, nodding at his sister.

“Then easy fix. She can get a forearm sleeve to cover that up when she’s ready. Fucker won’t know it. With her new face, a new tattoo, new name and a new life, he won’t have a leg to stand on. Especially since his ass will be in prison.” Desiree smirked at her brother with a quirked eyebrow.

“I’m glad I’m on your good side, hellcat. You are evil in your thoughts.” Max winked over at her.

Desiree winked back at him before she turned back to Andrea. Now it was time to decide how and when they were going to rescue the woman.

The team deliberated for the next two hours on what to do and when to do it. They hatched a plan that took all of them to ensure that it worked.

This would be like them dealing with the Taliban, only difference, they were dealing with a police officer who had an evil streak that their own department couldn’t see. They knew, because of the fact the police department was involved, that they had to ride a fine line.

What made it even more dangerous for them was the fact that Jose and Tiny, both members of the SWAT team, were a part of this. They wanted to talk to their team about what was going down, but Andrea was afraid that it would somehow leak back to the suspect and all hell would break loose.

Now they were hashing out the final details of what needed to be done and exactly what they were going to do. Luckily for them, there were no children involved in this one.

Those cases were to them the easiest to handle and the best. When kids were involved, it was harder for them to stomach, seeing the fear in their eyes, the bruises, and the way they would cower when new people came around.

Even when they explained they were taking them to safety, they still had a hard time. It broke their hearts every time and made them want to take out the fucker who caused the harm.

Two days later, the club set out to do their thing. They had decided on a car accident that would take place as the package was going home from work.

They took care of everything to make it look like it was her in the vehicle. The body that was to stay in the car when it started to burn and so much more were taken care of.
