“Was your command ever told about what happened?” Jose asked between clenched teeth.

“Yes. I was told to stop whining about it and realized that I was too far from home to have mommy and daddy to hold my hand. I was a Green Beret and should act like one and be glad that a man would even want to fuck me since I wanted to act like a man.” Desiree admitted to Max, Jose, Tiny, and Teddy.

“Who was the fucking son of a bitch who made that statement?” Max asked, pissed as hell.

“Base Commander Jared Smithy and Lt. Colonel Amanda Jenkins.” Desiree softly told him.

“Jenkins is already finished in the military. Someone else filed a complaint against her a couple of years ago for the same thing. She lost her commission and everything. I believe she was dishonorably discharged. She tried to fight it but failed.” Teddy smirked when he leaned back into his seat.

“Smithy is still around. He’s not very well liked though. I think I’ll have a word with General Edwards and see what he says when he hears about that.” Max smirked over at Teddy who nodded back at him.

“Guys don’t. It’s over and done with. I left the Army after that. Now it’s time to find out who is after me.”

Andrea moved her feet off of Jose’s lap and leaned forward. “Iris, have Wizard look into Desiree’s old team, Smithy and Jenkins. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Also have her look into Bradley and the stripper chick. I don’t want any loose ends where this is concerned.”

“On it. Message already sent to her. If they have anything to do with this, we’ll nail their asses like they’ve never been nailed before. No one fucks with one of ours.”

Desiree wrapped her arms around Max. While she hated the fact he ambushed her into telling her brothers, she finally felt happy they now knew the whole story.

Max was struggling with this op. His team had been sent out three days ago and it doesn’t look like the end was in sight.

He looked over at Teddy to see how he was faring compared to him. He knew both of them were struggling with being away from Desiree with everything going on.

Thankfully his brother, her older brother, and the women of Blue Lotus were there with her. Knowing that, it helped him breathe a little better, but he still hated not being there with her if she needed him.

He made sure to send her an email every day that he could, sometimes two to three times a day. He wanted her to know she was on his mind.

“Hey, intel finally came through with the information we were needing to move this shit forward.” Teddy walked into the room that Max had made into a mini office while they hunkered down in the middle of enemy territory.

They had been sent into the heart of enemy territory to grab intel on a rising terror group that was supposedly siding with Iran and Iraq to target major cities in the US in a synced attack. The person heading the group was a known terrorist who had worked with ISIL and other known terror group.

The target, Leonce Gauthier, tended to go where the money went and thrived off of chaos. Delta had been chasing this ghost for nearly four years now after he’d orchestrated an attack in London that cost the lives of several important people, including hundreds of civilians.

Intel had received word that Gauthier was now in Iran helping them plot targets on US civilians. Their target was French born, but raised in the Middle East, Qatar, since his father worked for the oil companies.

“They better have something worth looking at because this shit is getting old. I feel like we’re being sent on a damn wild goose chase with this fucker.” Max growled as he threw his pen down on the table he made out of pieces of wood found in the ramshackle home.

“Seems that the original intel was possibly a test to feed out a traitor in their mist. Which is why we were told not to go forward with the mission. Seems one of the three letter agencies or intelligence agencies has someone on the inside of Gauthier’s organization. It’s believed Gauthier got suspicious after one of his shipments got intercepted.” Teddy informed him.

“So, what do we do now?” Kenny “Tennessee” Daniels asked as he walked up to the two men.

“Wait for our next set of orders. Hopefully they will call us back home before too long. If we’re not to engage, then it’s more of a recon. Therefore, we stay low and watch until further instructions.” Max concluded after a few moments.

Max looked over at Teddy and watched him study Daniels. He now knew the full story of what went down with Desiree and why she struggled more than they actually realized.

After that night, the whole crew helped get the new fence put up around the entire property. They had also installed state ofthe art security systems within the fencing to make sure no more sneak attacks happened while they were gone.

There was still much more that needed to be done around the property, but they would do that when they got back. They were still waiting to hear back from Wizard on the deep dive she was doing on Desiree’s old team, which also included Daniels.

Teddy knew not to confront Daniels until they heard back from Wizard. Max knew it was hard for him not to since Desiree was his sister, but it was even harder for him since he knew he was in love with the woman.

He didn’t want to believe that Daniels was dirty or going after Desiree, but if word came back that Daniels was dirty, he would forget every rule book there was out there and find a spot on the property to bury the motherfucker after he tortured the son-of-a-bitch long and painfully for even thinking of putting his hands on Desiree. Fuck being that sweet fucker who handed things over to the police.

While most believed that being the ‘hero’ was a good guy thing, he didn’t believe in that. While he believed in doing right, the one thing that would make him a villain in a heartbeat was someone messing with his brother, his sister, his mother, and now Desiree.
