“Easy peasy. And once you have the five and they hear the conversations, I suspect you’re in. They’ll give you a contract.”
I’m silent because I’m not sure where I can find the people they want. And unfortunately, I don’t want to put my brother in a situation where his friends and people he knows feel as though they have to do it. Have to tell the truth to the world and be judged for it. My guests need to be willing, not strong-armed into it. That’s the only way this works.
And honestly, it would be all athletes. That probably wouldn’t work. But they’re the only kind of connections my brother has.
“I have to go, but this is good news. Now go be that killer I know you are and make us both a lot of money.” She hangs up.
Lex and I look at one another.
I don’t know how, but I have to find a way to make this happen for us.

“So, what exactly is up your ass lately?” Hayes asks as we sit down on the plane.
Decker and Easton sit across from us.
“He hasn’t even been going out,” Easton says.
“Maybe I don’t want to hang out with you.” I just want this conversation to end.
“You had Stephie willing and waiting.” Easton hasn’t let that one go, and I get it, he was disappointed, but he could go out and get any other woman, so why is he harping on this one?
“Why don’t you get on Decker?”
My brother looks up from his book, and our gazes collide until I tear mine away.
I don’t hate my brother like everyone thinks, but a lot of shit has gone down between us over the years. Coming to Chicago to his team wasn’t ideal, but I needed to get out of Seattle. We never had an outright conversation about it, but it was an unspoken agreement that we’d live our lives on opposite sides of the country.
What are the chances that two brothers who didn’t grow up together would end up in the pros? Unlikely, but we’ve been good at keeping our distance since I’m pretty sure we both resent one another for different reasons.
“Don’t pull me into it.” Decker goes back to his book.
“Decker will end up with some sweet girl he meets at the dog park or something.” Easton elbows him and laughs.
“Speaking of, what’s up with the dance moves with my sister the other night?” Hayes asks.
My jaw clenches, and I lift my gaze to see a smile on Decker’s face that has a hint of competition in it.
Fuck him.
“I thought you and Leighton were having relations in the back alley?” Easton laughs.
“Relations? How old are you?” I shake my head at him.
Easton shrugs. “Well, it doesn’t seem polite to say fucking now.”
Even Decker looks at Easton with a what the fuck expression.
Easton holds up his hands. “I’m a gentleman.”
“So do you ask the women you bring home really nicely to please get down on their knees and kiss your pee pee?” Hayes asks.
