Della laughs at something Minx says and shakes her head. The way she does this has my chest constricting in a way it’s not done before. When it comes to Della, I know damn well I’m one lucky son of a bitch. Making her mine has to be one of the best damn decisions I could’ve made. Didn’t even matter I haven’t been inside of her yet. I know when I get in there, it’ll be damn worth it.

“I did a quick look into what we all heard her say in her rant to you.”

I stiffen and look to my brother. “You get the names?”

“Damn right I did.” He nods. “It wasn’t hard. The reports were hidden, but not hidden deep enough. Took me all of an hour to get the names. She should have been able to trust the cops to help her.”

I nod, feeling those words deep. Yeah, my woman should have been able to trust those she went to to help her with the situation. Instead, she learned a hard lesson and would prefer to trust a group of bikers than those who carry the badge.

Fuck me.

It shouldn’t make me feel good, but damn if it doesn’t. Della’s trust means something to me. More than something. It’s everything. She’s a light in my life that’s been filled with night for far too long.

“I want those names.”

“I figured you would.” Dread chuckles. “I’ve printed them out. List is in my room. We gonna make them pay for what they’ve done to her?”

“Damn right we are.” I knew my brothers. They wouldn’t need a vote of retribution for something like this. You fuck with one of ours, and it’ll be the last thing you do. No one, and I mean no one fucks with our club. Doesn’t matter if it was before I claimed Della or not, she’s mine now. That’s all that matters. Especially with what she’s done to prove herself to my brothers.

“Good.” Dread nods and slaps a hand on my shoulder. “Happy you found it with her, Shadow.”

“Not as happy as I am. Just started it with her, but I don’t give a shit how early it is. She’s mine, and I intend to make it that way permanently. Gonna put my ring on her finger.”

“Whoa.” Dread whistles. “Then damn glad I’m happy for you. She’s gonna fit right in.”

“Yeah, she is.” I couldn’t agree more. Della Meadows was meant to be mine. No matter what I thought about her years ago, about her being mousey, shy, and one of my best friends’ little sister. She fits me perfectly now, and I’m not even talking about her looks.

My woman is smart, witty, and a total smartass. Not to mention she’s protective of not just herself, but also those around her. Having her as mine, yeah, I’ll do what it takes to put my ring on her finger and give her my last name.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Della

Riding on the back of Shadow’s bike, holding tight to him, is a feeling I never want to forget.

The wind whipping around us feels amazing, freeing even. Though it has nothing on how riding with my body pressed against Shadow’s body feels.

It’s beautiful and somewhat overwhelming.

I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Today has been amazing. Not only getting to spend the entire day with Shadow, but getting to know those he calls brothers. I never thought I would understand his world. I was prepared to be on the outside looking in, only none of them made me feel that way. Well, not the men that is. The women who were around, well they’d given me dagger stares. They hadn’t said anything to me, except Minx.

Minx had been hilarious. I liked her. I didn’t care that she was what the guys called a saddle bunny. Minx talked to me, and it was genuine how she made me laugh. I wanted to get to know her.

Shadow and I spent the majority of the day at the clubhouse. We only left when the sun started going down. Shadow claimed it was time for us to have some alone time without anyone around.

I didn’t know where we were going. I honestly didn’t care either. I was happy on the back of Shadow’s bike.

Before long, Shadow slows down and pulls down a long driveway. At the end of it, I see the outline of a small house.

Shadow parks his bike and lowers the kickstandbefore patting my thigh. “Hop off, baby.”

I didn’t want to. I wasn’t ready to let him go yet. I still got off the back of his bike, but not before giving his middle a squeeze, which earned me a grin when I met his gaze.

“Take it you like being on the back of my bike,” Shadow states as he follows me off the bike, taking me in his arms.

Standing there in front of his house, my heart beating wildly in my chest, I nod. “I more than liked it.”
