“We only went out to dinner last night, and the only other time was when she and I went looking for wallpaper samples for her music room. Ugh. And I rented a horse-drawn carriage to take the four of us on a picnic. It wasn’t a big deal, and that was weeks ago.”
“It likely wasn’t a big deal—until it’s brought to the attention of the wrong people.” Bill gave a dark chuckle. “Don’t look like that. I’m not saying you can’t see her anymore. Just keep it low key. Get the guys to help you by picking her up and bringing her here or the two of you meeting at Francie’s.”
“We mostly just hang out at her house where we’ve been remodeling a room for her music program.”
“Did she come to the Midsummer’s Eve event?”
Ezreal gave a slow nod.
“And we had photographers all over the place plus the guests taking them too. I think your idea of hiring somebody is a good one, and I think you should get on it right away. The sooner you can find out where the guy is, the better. I’ll have my people set up alerts so we’ll know if your name shows up linked to someone romantically.”
“You mean besides that lady who claims I’m from another planet, and she’s having my alien baby?” Ezreal pulled a face.
“I didn’t know you’d seen that.” Bill chuckled. “In the meantime, be careful where you two are seen.”
“All right.” Ezreal rose. “I wonder if she’s right, and we ought to get the three of them passports. That way, if she has to get out in a hurry, she can.”
“Wouldn’t hurt to get it started if she doesn’t need him to sign for them. Do you need anything else?” Bill started flipping through his rolodex again.
“No.”
“All right. I’ll verify those phone numbers and get them to you.”
“Thanks.” Ezreal had a lot to consider as he left the security head’s office.
