“Oh fuck.” My eyes widen as my head snaps toward Reid in dread.

“What? What's wrong?”

“We’ve been so caught up in Addison, we forgot about PastelPrincess.”

His face falls. “Fuck,” he sighs, running a hand through his hair. “Fuck!”

“Ahh, Reid?” I rub the back of my neck. “Is it bad that now we have Addison, all my feelings for Princess are gone? I mean romantically. She’s still one of our best friends, but now that I think of it, I don’t think I want to be with anyone but Addison. No.” I shake my head. “I know I don’t. Other girls are not a thing in my mind anymore.”

“No. Because I feel the same way.”

“Good thing we never told her about our feelings, huh?” I chuckle. “That would have been awkward.”

“This scent match thing is weird. Like, how it can make feelings you’ve had for so long just go away.”

I shrug. “It’s fate, man. She wasn’t meant to be ours. Addison is.”

“Yeah, but still. Is it going to be weird playing with her now?”

“I don’t think so. She’s just a friend, and that's all we’ve ever been.”

“Maybe we should hit up Death and tell him to go for it. Princess is still an amazing girl. She deserves to be happy, and Death isn’t fooling anyone. He likes her just as much as we do. Well, did.”

“Couldn’t hurt to say something.” I shrug.

We head into our gaming room. We each have our own side with our computer setups all decked out.

Once I log on toTwisted Valley, I don’t see Death or PastelPrincess online. “Want to do our own campaign, or do we want to join someone else's?"

“We could do our own.”

Reid is right,Twisted Valleywas just the thing we needed to wind down. We’re just finishing a round when we get a message in the group chat.

PastelPrincess: Hey, guys. Sorry, I haven’t been on much. A lot is going on at home. I can’t play tonight, have to catch up on streaming. It’s been a few days. But wanna play tomorrow?

WaffleMaster_135: Yeah, sure. We have to work during the day, but we can. Same time tomorrow night?

PastelPrincess: Perfect! Hope all is well. Have a good night xox

Before, those xox’s would make me smile, but now I feel weird. “Should we be talking to another girl?” I ask Reid, spinning around in my chair to face him.

He blinks a few times, thinking. “I don’t know. It’s not like we’re doing anything wrong.”

“But we had feelings for her before. Is that fair to Addison?”

“I mean, we could just not play until we talk to Addison about it.”

“But I just told Princess we’d play tomorrow.” I sigh.

“Then we play. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. And if it’s something Addison doesn’t like, then we stop. Simple. Don’t overthink it.”

“I’m done gaming for the night. I think I’m gonna just chill and watch some streams on StreamPunk before I go to bed.”

“‘Kay, I’m gonna play on my own for a bit and go to bed too.” He answers back.

Spinning around, I pull up the StreamPunk website and log in. I click on my favorite streamer and watch him play for a bit.

Eventually, I get bored and start scrolling through the people I’m subscribed to. Nothing is pulling my attention.
