For a millisecond, he was stunned, but he grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the other people before she could complete her turn.

His fingers closed around her upper arms, and he tugged her close to him.Close enough for her to know exactly how wrong she’d been. Her eyes widened; her mouth dropped open.

“Oh, I know who I was kissing.”He hissed and pulled the lower part of her body close to his.“This,” he said, making sure she could feel his hard-on, “is all you, Dana.Every throbbing, aching centimeter. You want to forget about this?Great.Let me know how you’re doing.”He growled and he swooped his head down before she could move away.

By now, he knew what she tasted like, knew how sweet and seductive her mouth was, and his lips covered hers hungrily. He swallowed her soft moan as her scent surrounded him.He allowed his hands to roam over her body, to journey over every curve and line, to revel in her softness here and in her toned feminine muscles there, until he closed his hand over one of her full breasts.

He nearly lost it then.He was a boob man; he’d always loved a woman’s curves, loved the softness, the feel.Hell, what was not to love? But Dana’s breasts were something entirely else. These were Nirvana, paradise. For these breasts he’d crawl over hot coals, walk over broken glass.

“David,” Dana mumbled against his lips, but he didn’t want to listen, didn’t want anything else intruding in this glorious moment. She pushed against his shoulders again, and he lifted his mouth reluctantly.

“Calling,” she panted.“Someone is calling you,” she said, and he finally registered where they were.

Dazed, he looked around him before he turned back to Dana. She was muttering while pulling at her dress, her cheeks flaming.

“David!”Don’s voice sounded close by, and he quickly stepped away from Dana and walked to the end of the wide veranda. He was in no state yet to talk to anyone else.

“Have you seen David?”He heard Don’s voice again, closer this time.“Dale and Zoe are leaving.”

“He’s over there,” Dana said softly, and David turned around in time to see her slipping past his brother and disappearing into the crowd.

Chapter Two

By the timethey’d said their farewells to the married couple, Dana’s body had finally stopped humming. She was standing at the edge of the crowd, trying to make sure she was as far away from David as possible.Standing here, away from her friends, also gave her the opportunity to slip away unnoticed.

She still couldn’t believe she’d kissed David with so much abandon.Even worse, that she did something she’d never done before—bit his lip, looking for some kind of reaction from him!And boy, oh boy, did she get a reaction.

With a last wave to the departing couple, she turned away, her only intention to get to her room as soon as possible.

Hannah caught her arm though.“Where are you off to?Please don’t leave me alone with all these happy smiling couples—I’m not going to make it!”she wailed.

“I have an early flight tomorrow morning.”

“But I thought you said it was school holiday at the moment? Why not stay in the Seychelles?”

“I wish I could but… um… there are other things…”

“Hannah, sweetheart!”Hannah’s mother called out and grabbed her daughter’s hand.“There is someone you have to meet.”And pulling a frowning Hannah behind her, she disappeared among the other guests.

Dana sighed in relief and quickly glanced around her.Great, David was nowhere in sight.Hurrying forward, she pushed through the throng of people. She had to get to her room before he found her again. With everything that was on her mind, the last thing she needed was to be distracted by flutterings she didn’t know how to deal with.

For the past two years, ever since her dad’s suicide, she’d been trying to get to the truth of what had really happened. Her brother, George, an engineer, was working and living in Dubai, and it didn’t look as if he’d be back in South Africa anytime soon. He’d been home for their dad’s funeral, and her mother had been over to visit him last Christmas, but he had informed her in no uncertain terms that he didn’t want to have anything to do with the whole mess. The sooner he could put the whole thing behind him, the better.

For her, it wasn’t that easy.In spite of what the papers said and what she knew other people were thinking, she believed her dad to be innocent and she wanted to prove it.

“Dana!”Caitlin called from close by.

Dana groaned softly, as she’d nearly reached the elevators. She pasted a smile on her face and turned.“I thought you guys had left.”

“We have a babysitter.”Caitlin smiled.“The first time since Donato’s birth, and I, for one, am going to enjoy a little bit more of the night.Where are you off to in such a hurry?”

“I’m leaving in the morning…”

Caitlin took her hand and pulled her to one side.“We haven’t had a chance to talk much over the past few months. How are you doing?Any news about what happened to your dad?”

“I have some leads and I want to use the holidays to see what I can find out.”

“You will tell me if you need help?”
