“Yeah, well,” she started, her voice teasing, “it seems my regular partner isn’t available to play anymore.”

That was interesting.“Now why would he defect on a gorgeous woman like you?”

It wasn’t because she didn’t give good phone… just her voice alone—even without one of her delicious fantasies—ratcheted up his tension.Hard in his fist, ready to pump, he reminded himself to take his time—get to know her first.

“The usual,” she said, as if it didn’t matter.“He’s met someone else.”

“I hope he hasn’t broken your heart,” he murmured.

“No,” she said with a heavy sigh.“But he’s left me feeling a bit needy.”

“And you needed a little help bleeding off your tension?”

She was silent for a long moment.“Yes.”Then, a short pause.“We need to have some ground rules.I don’t normally do this with coworkers.”

“We’re coworkers?”he asked quickly.“We work for different companies.”

“Semantics,” she said.

“All right.Tell me the ground rules.”He didn’t like rules, but he knew she needed to feel safe.

“First, we only talk on the phone. We don’t go out.”

“I can abide by that rule.”

“Second, we don’t discuss this with anyone else.No one knows—just you and me.”

“I can buy into that rule too,” he said.He had no intention of sharing her.She was all his.Especially now that her other… option… was out of the picture.

“And when we’re at work, we don’t acknowledge anything about what we do on the phone. No sexy hints, no setup for a call during work hours.I’m only interested in your night voice,” she clarified.

“Okay.Any other rules?”He was so damn hard just listening to her voice—and anticipating one of her naughty fantasies—that he’d probably agree to anything.

“I can’t think of any right now, but I reserve the right to add others later if need be.”

“So this is just phone sex?”he checked.

“Just phone sex,” she agreed.“I’m not interested in relationships.”

“Neither am I,” he assured her.He knew women sometimes changed their minds, but his gut told him Summer was different.“Rules out of the way, tell me why you’re so worked up tonight?”

She laughed softly, a sound that tickled him.“I like sex, even if it’s only by myself.I like it almost every night. But I haven’t talked to my other friend since Friday night. And I’ll admit, it’s always better when someone else is involved.”

“Even on the phone?”

“Even on the phone.”

“So, all worked up and no one to play with?”

“Believe me,” she said, suddenly tart, “you are my last option.”

But he knew the truth. She’d been thinking about him all week since he’d given her his number. She was the reason his body had demanded a workout, a shower, and a release. She was the reason he was rock hard now.

And he was the reason she was all worked up.

“Where are you?”she asked.

The question could mean anything.Where he lived. What city was he in.Or just a way to picture him as they talked.
