They shared a meal that stretched into laughter, teasing, and even dessert—Logan couldn’t resist ordering something rich and indulgent, even though he’d eaten until he could barely move. By the time they reached the car, Logan felt both full and light, as if the weight he’d carried for so long had finally started to lift. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d eaten so well, or enjoyed food so much. Adrian had been right—he needed this. He neededhim.

As Logan slid into the driver’s seat, he discreetly sent Dean a quick text, letting him know they were on their way. Shoving the phone back into his pocket, he looked over at Adrian, a grin spreading across his face without him even realizing it.

Adrian noticed immediately, his eyebrows arching in suspicion. “Why are you smiling like that?” he asked, narrowing his eyes playfully.

“Me?” Logan said, feigning innocence, though his grin only widened.

“Yeah, you. You look like a little boy who’s up to no good,” Adrian chuckled, shaking his head.

Logan couldn’t hold back his laugh. He leaned across the console, cupping Adrian’s face in his hand and kissing him deeply, as if the act itself could explain his mood better than words. Only the thought of where theywere headed pulled him away, his lips lingering for a moment before he started the car. Adrian watched him, his expression softening, though the curiosity never left his eyes.

Ten minutes later, they pulled up outside the club, the neon lights painting the street in streaks of color. Adrian looked at Logan, surprise written all over his face. “What are we doing here?” he asked, but Logan was already out of the car, leaving Adrian no choice but to follow.

“Partying,” Logan said simply, flashing his phone screen at Adrian. A text from Dean glowed briefly, instructing them to head to the bar.

Logan held Adrian’s hand as they navigated the crowded club, weaving through the crush of bodies and the thrum of loud, bass-heavy music. When Logan spotted Dean with a group of people, he glanced at Adrian, watching for his reaction. He saw the exact moment Adrian recognized the faces in the crowd—his friends, the people he hadn’t seen much of since everything had started. Confusion flickered across Adrian’s face, and Logan leaned close, his lips brushing against Adrian’s ear so he could speak over the noise.

“I heard you’ve been a little less social lately,” Logan explained. “So I teamed up with Dean to fix it. He invited them all.” His lips grazed Adrian’s ear again, this time in a kiss, before pulling back.

Adrian’s grin blossomed like the first light of dawn after a long, dark night. As he approached the group, Logan’s eyes caught a flicker, a shimmering spark in Adrian’s gaze as he warmly greeted his friends. It was a light so radiant, so full of life, that it seemed to draw Logan in, pulling at his heart with an irresistible tenderness. Gratitude surged through him just to witness Adrian alive in that precious moment. He had helped createthis moment, and seeing Adrian happy, truly happy, made him feel whole in a way he hadn’t in years.

Adrian danced, and Logan danced with him. On the crowded dance floor, Logan wrapped his arms around Adrian, holding him close, not caring who saw them. Nothing else mattered—not the fleeting glances, not the clamor surrounding them, not the heavy shadow of Adrian’s illness that lingered brightly in the air yet remained hushed. All that mattered was this moment, and Logan was determined to hold onto it.

At some point, Logan noticed Dean at the bar, his face illuminated by the glow of his phone. He was grinning like an idiot, his fingers flying across the screen as he texted. Logan smirked, leaning closer to Adrian to point it out. “I think your roommate’s got it bad,” he murmured. Adrian laughed, nodding in agreement, though neither of them asked why Dean hadn’t brought the mystery girl along.

Later in the night, Logan and Adrian found themselves tucked away at the bar, a quiet pocket in the otherwise lively club. Adrian sat perched on a stool, his posture slightly relaxed, though his movements betrayed the quiet fatigue setting in. Logan stood behind him, arms wrapped loosely around Adrian’s waist, Adrian’s head resting over his chest. It wasn’t just a gesture of affection, it was grounding, anchoring both of them to the moment.

Adrian had taken a few breaks throughout the night, slipping away from the dance floor whenever his legs began to falter or the strain became too much. Logan hadn’t minded in the slightest. If anything, those quiet pauses allowed him to savor moments like this, to hold Adrian close and feel the warmth of him against his skin.

Logan wasn’t the only one watching over Adrian. Every one of Adrian’s friends had their eyes on him, though they did it subtly, with the kind of quiet care born of love and concern. They paid close attention to how Adrian moved, when he paused, and when his laughter faltered, making sure to never let the shadow of his illness grow too heavy. No one said anything directly; there was an unspoken agreement to let Adrian enjoy the night without the weight of their worry, but their presence was a safety net, a silent act of solidarity.

Adrian closed his eyes, letting himself be lulled by the steady rhythm of Logan’s heartbeat. It was a sound that anchored him, more comforting than the thrum of the music or the chatter of the crowd. With every beat, Adrian felt a sense of calm he hadn’t known in years.

With a sigh that carried both release and longing, Adrian laced his fingers through Logan’s and pressed a quiet kiss against his arm.

Logan drew him closer, answering with the gentle weight of his embrace, his lips brushing the crown of Adrian’s head. In that touch lived the memory of battles fought, wrong turns endured, and the relentless pull that had carried him back here. All the pain, all the choices, all the restless searching, every fragment of it had carved the path to this man, to this moment.

“You wanna go home, Lo?” Adrian asked softly.

“Yeah,” Logan murmured, his eyes closing. “But only if you want to.”

“I do,” Adrian replied, his voice warm and steady. “Come on.”

Hand in hand, they wove through the crowd, stopping to say their goodbyes to Adrian’s friends. Logan spotted Dean, who was beaming at his phone as he texted, “We’ll be at the hotel tonight, so bring her to the apartment. Stop being a jerk and just texting her, take her out, andapologize to her for not bringing her tonight.” He said over the music. Dean blushed, gazing at him in confusion, and nodded.

Logan could see the lightness in Adrian’s step, the genuine joy that lingered despite the ever-present shadow of his illness. As they walked out into the night, Logan squeezed Adrian’s hand, silently promising himself that he would keep making moments like this for both of them.

The drive to Adrian’s house was silent. Once there, Adrian hurried through his home, collecting a small bag of necessities before rejoining Logan in the car and driving to the hotel. The city lights flickered outside the car, but neither of them seemed to notice; they were lost in the glow of the night they’d just shared.

At the hotel, Logan stopped at the reception desk to retrieve another key card. He handed it to Adrian without much ceremony, but the gesture spoke volumes. It was more than a card; it was trust, an invitation, and a quiet promise that Adrian belonged in his space. Adrian took it with a grateful expression, pocketing it before following Logan to the elevator.

Once inside the suite, the weight of the evening seemed to melt away. Logan moved toward the bathroom and began filling the hot tub, the sound of water bubbling to life filling the air. There wasn’t much need for conversation; the kind of connection they shared didn’t require words. As the tub filled with warm, inviting water, Logan stripped down and slipped in, the heat wrapping around him like a second skin. Adrian joined him, settling into the tub behind Logan.

Without hesitation, Logan leaned back, pressing his body against Adrian’s, his head resting just beneath Adrian’s chin. Adrian’s arms encircled him, and Logan let his hands drift to cover Adrian’s, their fingers lacing together under the water. The warmth of the hot tub mingled withthe warmth of Adrian’s embrace, and Logan felt a happiness so profound it almost startled him. How had he ever walked away from this? How had he ever thought he could live without Adrian?

Logan tilted his head slightly, brushing his lips against Adrian’s chest, and the simple act made his heart swell. Adrian tightened his hold on him, his arms steady and grounding, as if he, too, was afraid to let go.

“Thank you for tonight, Lo,” Adrian murmured, his voice soft but filled with emotion.
