Logan parted his lips just a whisper, his tongue softly grazing Adrian’s in a quiet, loving caress, an invitation for more. Adrian didn’t hesitate, his tongue sliding into Logan’s mouth, meeting his in a dance that was both familiar and electric. Logan groaned softly, the sound pulsating against Adrian’s lips, and his hands tightened on Adrian’s face as though he never wanted to let go.

Adrian drew back briefly, his tongue retreating, only to slide back in again, coaxing Logan deeper into the kiss. Their lips moved together seamlessly, their breaths mingling, their shared need palpable. Logan’s hands slipped to Adrian’s shoulders, holding him firmly, grounding himself in the moment. He had forgotten how good a kisser Adrian was, how Adrian could make the world fade away with just a touch, just a kiss.

The kiss deepened, their bodies pressing closer as though they couldn’t get enough of each other, couldn’t close the space between them fast enough. It was more than a kiss; it was a reclamation, a promise, asurrender. It was everything they hadn’t been able to say, everything they’d been holding back for years.

When they finally pulled apart, their foreheads rested together, their breaths mingling, their hearts pounding in unison. Logan’s voice was soft, almost reverent, as he whispered, “You saved me then, Adrian. And you’re saving me now.”

Adrian’s hand slid to Logan’s neck, his thumb brushing gently against his jawline. “And you’re saving me too,” he whispered back. “Always.”

Logan pulled away from the kiss reluctantly, knowing as much as he wanted to hold Adrian all night, he needed to let him rest. Tomorrow would be another long day filled with tests and the quiet agony of waiting. He gently brushed a delicate strand of hair from Adrian’s face, his voice barely above a whisper as he breathed, “I love you.”

Though he was aware of how often he had uttered those words—perhaps too often—he felt no remorse. Each time they escaped his lips, they carried the same aching sincerity, as if his heart had written them anew. He longed for Adrian to feel the essence of these words, to hear them resonate within him, to fully embrace their truth. He wanted to evanesce every glimpse of doubt from Adrian’s mind, for, to Logan, the sunlight’s true brilliance could only shine if Adrian genuinely understood the depth of his love.

With every proclamation, he reveled in the way Adrian’s gaze would soften, how a playful smile would dance upon his lips, and how a faint blush would grace his cheeks, infusing life back into his spirit. Adrian craved those words, thrived on their warmth, and Logan would gladly scream them a hundred times a day if it kindled that radiant light in Adrian’s eyes once more.

“I love you, too,” Adrian whispered back, and it sent a wave of warmth through Logan’s chest. It was as though his very soul had been set alight, the words igniting something deep and profound within him. He had waited so long to hear those words again, had longed for them in the emptiness of his nights. Now they were here, and they were everything.

Logan leaned down, pressing his lips to Adrian’s one last time, a tender vow wrapped in a kiss. “It’s late,” he whispered, watching Adrian’s heavy eyelids. “And you are exhausted… tomorrow we have another long day.”

“Yeah. We must sleep.”

Logan gently kissed his nose as he stood up. He picked up the guitar and put it back in its place by the wall. Adrian crawled under the blanket, feeling his muscles relax as he lay down on the bed.

“I’ll see you in the morning,” Logan promised, leaning down to kiss his forehead. “Goodnight, my love,” he whispered before stepping away, flicking off the light, and opening the door.

“Lo?” Adrian called, a deep frown on his face.

“Yes?” Logan said, closing the door again instantly, and in the next moment, he was by his bed, leaning over him.

“Stay, please. I can’t bear the thought of spending another night alone now that you’re finally here.” Adrian’s voice trembled with urgency. “I understand you’re trying to give me space—both now and earlier in the shower—but I don’t want space. I need you, right here with me, close enough to feel your warmth. So please, no more distance between us.” His plea was almost a cry, and Logan nodded, anguish flickering in his eyes.

How could he express his yearning for Logan to envelop him in suffocating love, to caress him with tender touches, to nurture him with devoted care, and to shower him with undivided attention? To admit thathe craved Logan’s presence incessantly? That he was aware of his own neediness, teetering on the edge of annoyance, yet still, he longed for Logan to be there, always?

Words floated away, leaving Logan marooned on the sandy shore of his own emotions. He moved swiftly, taking his place beside the love of his life, easing into bed, wrapping his body around Adrian’s, drawing him in as tightly as he could.

As Adrian basked in the warmth of Logan’s embrace, a dreamy gaze enveloped his eyes, accompanied by a whimsical, radiant smile that danced upon his lips—like an ethereal wanderer caught between the realms of slumber and something even more exquisite. Every fiber of his being radiated serenity, and the world unfolded in vibrant hues, more luminous and uplifting than ever before.

For the first time in 741 days, Adrian Leon and Logan Vaughn slept side by side.

For the first time in 741 days, they breathed the same air, their chests rising and falling in unison like waves in the quiet cover of night.

For the first time in 741 days, Logan’s heartbeat found its echo in Adrian’s pulse, a rhythm that matched the pull and push of the ocean they had once shared.

For the first time in 741 days, they lay entwined, warmth and safety woven into the space where their bodies met.

For the first time in 741 days, the emptiness that had stretched between them was filled, every mile they had been apart now folded into the hollow of their shared embrace.

For the first time in 741 days, the ocean inside them settled, their souls anchoring to one another, finding stillness where there had only been drift.

For the first time in 741 days, the bond forged in the heart of the sea rekindled—a flame cradled by the salt and the surge, a promise carried by the tide.

And with it, hope rose like the dawn, quiet but inexorable, spilling light into all the darkened corners of their hearts.

The next day, they run around the hospital corridors, moving from one test to another, each room filled with doctors’ careful words and the hum of machines. Instructions and side effects crashed around them, a storm of information that left them clinging to each other. Adrian sat still under the fluorescent lights while Logan’s hand stayed wrapped around his, a quiet promise.

They made it home earlier than the day before, slipping quietly into Adrian’s house. The air inside was still, and Logan had also gotten used to this house, to this space that started to feel like home. Perhaps it was Adrian’s presence next to him, or the faint traces that lingered around the space, echoing him.

Adrian explained, almost absently, that Dean was out—working late and then off to some date, said Dean hadn’t specified with whom, but that he probably met someone new lately and was extra excited about it. His voice was tired, his words slower, but there was a quiet joy in having Logan beside him once again.
