I rocked my hips over him, hitting the perfect rhythm. Carter bucked beneath me, unable to hold still, which sent a thrill through me. His hands came up to cup my breasts, sending jolts of electricity from my nipples to my core.
Our bodies played a wicked symphony together, and I could feel it building to a crescendo. My moans filled the room as I ground on his cock, taking him as deep as I could. My poor bedframe was creaking like it might give out at any moment, but I couldn’t stop, couldn’t care about potential property damage.
My hands clawed at his chest, feeling bright light fill me to bursting.
“Oh shit,” Carter groaned. “I can’t hold back.”
“Don’t.” I sat down on him as low as I could go, and blinding light filled my senses. Sweet fire consumed me, brought meback to life, and then burned me to ashes again. Carter’s cock twitched inside me as he found his own release.
Without separating, I collapsed onto his chest, breathing hard and falling harder. Carter pressed gentle kisses to the top of my head, and pleasurable aftershocks buzzed through me.
“You’re amazing, Shelby.”
I slid off him and he took care of the condom. Then he was nestled back in bed beside me, a little damp from the shower and a little sweaty from the sex. I wiped the thin sheen of sweat from his forehead and smiled at him.
“You’re not the man I thought you were,” I said.
Carter chuckled and it was loud in my ear pressed against his chest. “That’s a compliment, right? Because I can go harder. I just need some orange juice or something first.”
I giggled, liking when he was a little silly. It illustrated my point perfectly. The big, bad bunny CEO of Allory didn’t seem like someone with a sense of humor, but Carter did, at least when he was alone with me.
“It’s definitely a compliment,” I said, running my fingernail lightly over his stomach. “You know my history with your company. Obviously, I expected you to be…”
“Mean?” he asked.
“A monster,” I said at the same time.
“Oh, right,” he said. “I guess that’s fair.” He curled his arm around me to nestle me closer to him. “My visit to Ferris has been full of surprises for both of us.”
I lifted my head so I could see his face. “Don’t tell me you’ve been having fun here?”
Carter smiled. “You know, I really have. I swear, there’s something in the air out here. Because you people have me doing all kinds of things I never thought I would do.”
“Like what?” I asked, watching his lips curve in a smile.
“Hello? You think I’ve ever been the Easter Bunny before?”
I shrugged. “You seemed to be doing a pretty good job. I would hire you again next year.”
“Was I supposed to get paid?” he asked, laughing.
I giggled and patted his chest. “I think you’re already rich enough.”
He looked into my eyes, turning serious. “I’ve never felt richer than I do right now, lying here with you.”
CHAPTER 26
CARTER
My mind awoke before my body did. I lay motionless in bed, eyes closed, feeling Shelby curled up against me. Like the last time I had woken up beside her in bed, I was happy to just experience how good it felt, while trying to etch this moment into my memory forever.
I couldn’t remember the last time I had felt so at peace, like everything was right with the world and I was exactly where I was meant to be. It was a confusing feeling since I was meant to be back in Los Angeles. I was already pushing my luck as it was, still being out here without any new results or work to report back to home base.
The social media team was on hold, cooling their heels at the motel. I really needed to send them home if we were finished getting footage. I hadn’t decided though, which was why they were getting paid to sit on their hands.
I hadn’t met with any other farmers recently, either.
It seemed silly to invest in anyone’s farm but Shelby’s. I had made a tentative deal with Ronnie Miller, but if I was going to work with anyone else, obviously I wanted it to be Shelby.
