Seth looked up from his laptop and shook his head.“I ran a check on Louise and you were right.”He looked over at Shay.“Her mother’s name is Leslie Matteo but her father is reported to be Lester Diamond.His name isn’t listed on her birth certificate but he was there the day she was born.”
“Damn,” Shay swore.“This is not good news.”
They all stared at him.
Chapter Two
Shay explained whathe meant, “If she spent any amount of time with him he would have taught her how to make a bomb.He was really into that shit.When we busted him he had several different types of explosives in his garage.We thought we got them all but we must have missed some.”
“Ya think?”King snorted.
Shay shook his head.“You don’t understand, we went through everything we could find.He lived alone and when we ran his name through the system, we couldn’t find he had any other connections, so we thought we caught everything he had.That was fifteen years ago and when the trial was over he got a life sentence for the twenty-three people who lost their lives in that flood.But we never knew he had a kid that was just as crazy as he was.”
“We have to wait to find anything out for sure,” King noted.“But if there is any connection we might have to move fast and hard.Also, we need to think about something else.”
“And what is that?”Sonny asked.
King shook his head and replied, “This swamp is where we found Soleman, we took him down but then Chester and his bunch came looking for him.Who else might come looking for him?Chester’s buddy said this wouldn’t be over until the fat lady sings.Who else might come here looking for Soleman?That’s the real question now.”
Mindy shivered and asked, “You think maybe Salvador and Louise might come here?”
“Anything is possible,” King admitted.“Those two might have set off those first bombs to get everyone running around in circles and try to slip in unannounced to look for Soleman.If they find out that he’s dead for sure his son might decide to go back to the main house to take his father’s place.That might not be a good thing.”
Mindy slowly shook her head.“No, that would not be a good thing at all.”
No one in the room said a word but they all could imagine what Salvador would do if he knew his father was dead.
Shay nodded.“You might be right.Those two might have set those bombs off just to get us to look in another direction while they slip in here to find out what happened to Soleman.”
Teige snorted.“Only we know what really happened to the man and we certainly aren’t gonna tell anyone.”
Shay shook his head.“I know that but they don’t.And if Salvador is as bad as his father or worse, then no one is safe here.”
Maude agreed, “We can start a wellness check on everyone dat lives here.Make sure dey know there might be trouble coming and tell them to look out for those dat don’t belong here.”
“Would that work?”Shay asked.
