Will had fallen asleep next to Sage, and he hadn’t dreamed of all those other full moons when the loups-garous had made Will their prey, when they’d hunted him. Will would inevitably be caught, and at the end of each night, there was always pain.Always.
Sage was different. He’d liked Will’s warmth, but the truth was that Sage was the warm one, the whole one, the witch who’d so easily closed a cut in Will’s skin with nothing but words and a dash of magic.
Will blamed all of that and the heightened energy levels that came the morning after a good shift for his behavior once he woke up in Sage’s bed, the shift at moonset waking him well before Sage considered it morning.
Will shifted, and his once-more human arm ended up draped over Sage’s side.Sage stirred, turning toward Will.
It didn’t take more than that. The wolf was still riding Will, his instincts at the forefront, and the wolf knew what he wanted.
Will ground himself against Sage. Will was naked, and that was good, but Sage was wearing his sleep pants, and Will didn’t like that one bit.He wanted Sage’s scent, the taste of him.He nuzzled the witch’s neck and dragged his lips along his jaw, where his five-o’clock shadow tickled in the best of ways.
“Hey,” Sage said.
The simple word cut through some of the full moon haze, but it didn’t change much.It didn’t change the fact that Will was aroused, that he was in bed with a man who smelled so good, so willing.Sunshine and smiles, that was what he smelled all over Sage’s skin.
“Will, sweetcakes,” Sage said.
Will’s heart thundered, the endearment like a warm hug.He looked down at Sage, who’d turned to lie on his back, his scraggly beard and blue eyes making him all the more attractive in the predawn light. But Sage also clearly wanted his attention, and he wanted to please Sage.He looked down, waiting for the handsome witch to tell him what he wanted.
“Are you all here?”Sage asked.
“Where else would I be?”
“What I mean is, are you doing something you actually want to do?”
Will stopped to think about that.It was a good question, but the answer was more complicated than a simple yes or no.
“I’m…hard.Because of you.I want you.”He wanted Sage in so many ways, he realized, but he knew it mattered, this, the physical thing between them. His wolf wanted Sage. Will wanted to know he could still have this intimacy with another person.“But I’m also…” Will looked away.Sage wasright there. He could be Will’s.The wolf wanted that, badly. He would be good, would make Sage feel good. And he wanted to be wanted by Sage.“I want this.”It was the best he could do.
Sage nodded.“Okay.So do I, but we’ll go slowly. We’ll take this slow, is what I mean.Yeah?”
The wolf was all too eager to do anything he was allowed to.Will was just happy Sage had said yes.
He nodded back.“Yes.Anything you want.”
“Ah, sweetcakes.Anything we both want.”
“Yes.I want a kiss.”
Sage’s eyes brightened.“So do I.”
Will bent down.He kissed Sage, whose almost-beard was softer than it looked, and whose lips were also softer than Will had expected.
The moment Sage opened his mouth, Will groaned, and the desire that washed over him was intense, either because of the aftereffects of the full moon, or because it had been such a long time.Such a long time since Will had done anything like this.
Sage moved, his arms coming around Will to feel along the rise and fall of Will’s ribs and lower back. Will wanted Sage to touch him, and he wanted to enjoy the touch, but he froze before Sage even got halfway to his butt.
Will’s lips stopped moving, and his breathing went shallow. The goose bumps prickling over his skin had nothing to do with where this had been going just a moment ago.
Sage stopped immediately.
“You okay?”He pulled his hands away from Will.
Will whined, the wolf sound somehow still coming easily to him, even though he was human again.
“Sweetcakes, it’s fine.Just talk to me.I don’t know what’s wrong, but I want to help.If you’ll let me.”
Sage, instead of looking pissed or impatient, looked like Will had slapped him or something. Will felt like a jerk.A stupid, whiny ass.
