Finn.
I throw the vibrator under the covers and yank the sheets to my chin. The handle is pressed down, and Finn pokes his head inside. I try to act normal, not flustered at all.
“I heard you scream,” Finn says as he drags his eyes over the room quickly to inspect. “Are you okay?”
My lips are pressed together as I hum. “Yeah, I thought I saw a spider.” I lie straight through my teeth.
“Thought?”
“It was a bit of black thread, sorry.” I cringe at the sound of my own voice.
Finn presses a hand to his chest. “You scared me, Iv.”
“Sorry,” I say as my cheeks redden.
He waves me off and then shuts the door behind him. I sink into my pillows and press a hand to my boiling face. Oh fuck.
CHAPTER 30
IVY THOMPSON
Aday at the beach is the distraction I need.
When my feet hit the golden sand, I inhale a quick breath. The sun shines down over the people littered across the beachfront. I spot Daisy standing with Harriet and Isaac. I head over and greet them all, feeling Isaac’s eyes on me.
“Hey.” He smiles, his brown eyes glittering.
“Hey.” I beam back. “Haven’t seen you in a little while.”
Isaac nods. “I know, I’m kind of bummed about it. How have you been?”
“Mmm, fine. Just relaxing before the dreaded thought of going back to university. What about you?”
“Same,” he sighs and shoves a hand through his thick hair. “My sister is getting married this weekend, so that’s something to look forward to.”
My eyes light up at his words. “Oh, that’s amazing, tell her I said congratulations.”
Isaac’s lips curve into a smile. “I will.”
A hand wraps around my wrist as I glance over my shoulder to find Daisy. “They’re gonna play football.” She winks at me.
“Who?”
“The boys.”
My eyes flick past her long brown locks to find Finn, JJ, Joel, and Callan, amongst their other friends. She tugs my wrist again, and we sit on the empty logs, facing their makeshift football pitch.
I watch as Daisy leans forward to grab a bottle of beer before cracking the lid open. “You want one?”
“Didn’t think you liked beer.” I grimace.
She shrugs. “It’s growing on me.”
Harriet sits down beside me on the log, Isaac on the other end.
“I hope they take their tops off,” Daisy leans over to whisper in my ear.
I snort. “That’s my brother you’re talking about.”
