“I know.”

“And you still saved me as that?”

I coyly shrug. “I was very confident in my abilities of persuasion.”

For a second, her eyes start to water, and I think she’s going to cry again. But just as quick as I saw that, she’s tossing my phone on the couch and her lips are crashing into mine.

“Take me to bed Maddox. Right. Now.”

“Gladly.”

I kiss her again for good measure before sitting up, getting ready to carry her down the hallway to her bedroom. But as I’m about to stand up with Gabi in my arms, I hear my phone vibrate on the couch cushion.

“Do you want me to get it?” she asks, her lips now trailing kisses down my neck.

“Only if you want me to break it.”

“You should check it,” she says, pulling back from me slightly and climbing off my lap. “I need to freshen up anyway.”

I’m about to protest that she needs to do nothing of the sort, when it starts vibrating again.

“For the love of everything!” I scream. “I just want to have sex with the mother of my child!”

She laughs and gives me one more kiss. “You will. Many times tonight. But you answer that. And then, meet me in my bedroom. I promise it’ll be worth the wait.”

The groan I let out vibrates through her apartment as I reach over for my phone, fully ready to tell whoever’s texting me to kindly go fuck themselves.

Beau

We need to talk.

Okay, maybe that’s not what I’m going to tell him.

Fucking hell… He knows…

I remember what Beau looked like when he saw me in the kitchen of Sugar and Sweets. And that was just him having a hunch that we slept together. Now if he knows she’s pregnant? From my penis? Maybe I need to update my will sooner rather than later.

Maddox

Okay.

Tomorrow. Sugar and Sweets. 8 p.m. Do not tell Gabi you’re coming.

What the hell?

“Everything okay?”

I turn to my left, pulled toward her voice like a moth to a flame. And, fuck me. I didn’t know I could get harder. But it turns out, I can.

Standing in the hallway, wearing nothing but the T-shirt she took from me in Vegas, is the woman I’m head over heels for.

“Everything is perfect.”

I stand up and stalk toward her, which only makes her giggle as we all but run to her bedroom.

Sure, I might die in a bakery tomorrow. I might be murdered with a rolling pin and my body stuffed in a walk-in cooler.

But tonight, I’m going to fuck the mother of my child while she’s wearing my shirt, and that’s not a bad way to spend your last night on Earth.
