“Hey, now. Don’t go there because I’m pretty sure I could offer myself up to the next man that exits the hospital and he’ll gladly take me home with him.” Hopefully, a very hot doctor. Nope, the old man from before appeared in front of me with a wide grin.
I shook my head and covered my face with one hand to hide my embarrassment. The old man sighed, hunching over and padded away. Oh my God. That was humiliating.
“Don’t even think about it, baby. I’ll come down there and kidnap you.”
“As long as we’re both in agreement then,” I replied, remembering the biker in the parking lot.
“We are.”
“Why is one of your MC guys sitting in the parking lot here?” I moved toward the guy to make sure he was in fact a member of the Kings of Anarchy MC.
“Because I can’t be there myself.”
“Excuse me? And why would you need to be keeping watch while I’m working?”
“Because women are going missing and I need to protect you. And since I can’t, I put a prospect on the job. He’s Corcoran and he’s very familiar with the hospital layout after standing guard after my accident.”
I digested his words for a quick second. “What do you mean women are missing?” I thought about the two nurses who didn’t show up at work for the second day. It wasn’t my place to question and dig into their business but maybe I needed to.
“I can’t tell you to much but the man who drugged Cass is Russian and he runs a sex trafficking ring.”
“What?” I shouted, then quieted, catching myself.
“Now isn’t the time to talk about this. When do you get off so I can pick you up?”
“I don’t know yet. Depends on how the evening goes. I don’t like this Gideon. You should have told me what was stressing you all this time, after all, I am a woman.”
“I was worried you’d bounce out of my life just as quickly as you bounced back into it. I’ll make it up to you tonight.”
Butterflies danced in my stomach. We hadn’t gotten to be alone together in a couple of days, and we hadn’t had sex in his bed. “But I work tomorrow, remember?”
“I want you stay at the clubhouse. I’ll bring Kevin over too, if you want.”
“Do you think he’s in danger?” Oh, I felt sick.
“Nah. The Russian is after women, not teenage boys.”
“That’s a relief.” I checked the time on my phone. “Crap, I’m late. I’ll text when to get me.”
“Okay, baby. See you later.” He ended the call and I ran into the hospital. We’d have plenty of time to work out the details and devise a plan when we were together tonight.

Tips were coming in left and right about Alek Kozlov. I knew we were getting close to finding him. It seemed he’d been lying low the past week and had come out of into the open, snatching women for his quota, whatever that number had been. He was short one: Cassandra.
My unfounded fear was he’d take Kelly. But how could he when I escorted her to and from work? I guess it had to do with finally having someone who meant more to me than my own life.
“What are you thinking about?” She reached for my hand and laced our fingers.
“How it’s crazy to be so happy after everything I’ve been through.” It was the honest true. This gorgeous lady made me want to live for a million years, with her by my side, of course.
“I know what you mean. After my parents died and it was just me and Kevin, it felt like the universe had gone dark and betrayed me. But being with you gives me hope, again.”
I knew exactly how she felt.
We stopped at the gate of the compound and Dom saluted me like a dork and waved us through. The guy could be a seriously scary fuck when he wanted and the most charming guy who made women fall at his feet. But not my woman.
