The orgasm hits me like lightning. My vision goes completely white. I see actual stars behind my eyelids. My inner wall seizes, clenching around him as every muscle locks tight.
“Fuck,” he curses, burying his face in my neck. His rhythm falters. He groans my name and I feel him finish inside me.
The sensation triggers another orgasm. Smaller than the others but no less devastating. I collapse forward onto the furs. He follows me down, covering my body with his. We're both breathing ragged and hard. His weight presses me into the soft pelts.
For a long moment, neither of us moves.
Then he shifts.
Svenn rolls to his side and pulls me with him. I go willingly, folding into his chest. His arm wraps around my waist, anchoring me there. The frantic energy from moments ago drains away, replaced with something quieter.
His forehead presses gently against mine.
The gesture is so soft it catches me off guard.
For a heartbeat, he looks like himself again. His breath brushes my lips. I feel safe and warm in his arms.
Svenn?
Wait.
Something shifts. The air changes. I feel him pushing into my mind. The world tilts and blurs. When it stabilizes, we're still in the wolf's den. Same furs. Same layout. But something is different. The air feels more malleable.
We're in my head now.
"What are you doing?" I ask.
Svenn rises slowly, already turning away from me. He walks toward somewhere deeper, to the darker edges where memory coils and hides. “I’m going to find out who that masked fucker is.”
Fear spikes through me.
This is dangerous. Letting the bond this deep into my mind to see my memories. If he finds Landon's name, he'll go to Avalon to kill him. He won't care about the war it starts.
But then I smile.
The bond stops, noticing my expression.
"You made a terrible mistake," I say softly. “Coming into my mind."
I have a strong mind shield. Even Kheirall Balthazar couldn't break through my mental barriers. The Demon Lord tried but everything had turned on him instead.
I reach out and the mental construct of the den begins to dissolve in my hands. The walls ripple like water. The floor cracks and reforms. Reality itself bends to my will.
Svenn's eyes widen as I demonstrate my power.
"I can leave anytime I want." I tear away another section of the fake wolf's den, letting it dissolve into mist.
The bond stares at me. Then, slowly, a smile spreads across his face.
"Of course my wife is powerful," he says with pride and satisfaction. "That's good to know."
His smile turns predatory. "Now let's see how long you can run.”
I turn and bolt.
The corridor bends at my command, arching into a sharp turn as I throw my will ahead of me. I fling up a wall behind me. It erupts from the floor in a seamless sheet of shimmering glass.
But a heartbeatlater it explodes outward. Svenn walks through the falling shards.
