“Oooohhhhhhh,” I cry out. “Oh, Hunter. Hunter.”

“Yes, yes. Keep saying my name, Gina. Don’t stop,” he growls. Then he stills for a second, and I feel him exploding inside of me. I hold on to him, and then I feel myself coming, as well. My fingernails are digging into his shoulders, and we’re both breathing deeply.

“Oh, shit, that was amazing,” he says as he finally rolls onto his back. He looks over at me with a wicked little smile. “Nowthatwas insanely good, right?” He looks boyishly handsome as he seeks my approval.

“I mean, what can I say?”

“I know I was a ten out of ten.” He looks over at me. “I’m a gentleman, so I will not give you a five.” I just stare at him and start laughing, then touch the side of his face. There’s an intense look in his expression as he gazes over at me.

“I hope I’m not wrong about you, Gina,” he breathes.

I frown slightly. “What do you mean?”

“You’re just really someone that I intrinsically trust. You just seem to be someone who wears her heart on her sleeve. And I never thought I’d meet someone who was quite like you.”

“But you don’t know everything about me.” My heart pounds. Why is this man about to make me cry? “You met me at probably the lowest point of my life.”

“Maybe, but the fact of the matter is, I met you knowing that you were a goof. And hey, that wasn’t so bad. I mean, it was crazy and immature, but I can deal with that.” He leans over and kisses me again. I feel slightly guilty because he doesn’t know everything about me, and I’m not as honest as he thinks I am. But I don’t know what to say. I bite down on my lower lip and debate telling him the truth.

“Hey, Hunter,” I say. I need to tell him, and I need to tell him now.

“Yes, my darling?”

Did he just call my darling? Oh shit, can my heart race any faster?

“So there’s this thing that I’ve been—” My phone rings. I blink rapidly as I recognize the ringtone as my sister. “My sister,” I say. “She never calls me this late.” Why is she calling me?

“Do you want to take it?”

“I can call her tomorrow,” I say, shaking my head. “There’s something that I wanted to tell you.”

“Something like what? You give me a twenty out of ten? The sex was that good?” He pumps his fist. “I knew it.”

“Really?” I say, rolling my eyes at him.

“What? You were screaming my name like you never wanted me to stop.”

“I mean it was good, but—” I roll over and sit on top of him, moving back and forth slightly. He looks up at me, his expression sweet and open. He reaches up and plays with my breasts.

“Hunter,” I say as I lean down, my long hair grazing the side of his face.

“Yes, Gina?”

“So, you know when I got this job?” I have to tell him. Now that we’ve slept together. Now that he’s being so sweet, I need to tell him everything, and hopefully he will understand. My phone starts ringing again. It’s my sister again. “What on earth?” I frown as I stop my gyrations.

“I think you should get it. It’s late. Maybe she needs something.”

“Yeah. Okay. We’ll get back to this conversation in a second.” I roll off the bed and grab my phone. “Hey, Tina. What’s going on?” She’s crying and sniffling, and I immediately freeze. “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine. It’s just?—”

“What’s wrong? Is it Mom? Is it Dad?”

“No. It’s—oh, Gina, I don’t know what to do.”

“What is it?”

“I’m just so, so hurt, and I just don’t know if I can continue like this.”
