“One day, you’ll get me pregnant exactly like this. Both of you at the same time.” I was surprised I could speak. I sounded hoarse, but they understood.
Jordy rocked his hips, nestling himself a little deeper and sending a wave of soothing pleasure through my center. Monty groaned and tightened his hold on us.
They had to support me on the way to the shower. I was weak like a newborn colt. It was dark outside, and it felt like the middle of the night, but I had no idea what time it was and no reason to care.
Sleepy, I fell back into bed, and Monty climbed in after me. He spooned me on the bed, and I reached out for Jordy.
“I’ll bring us something to drink. I’ll be right back.”
I felt uneasy without him in the room. The sadness and fear I witnessed in him were still fresh in my memory.
Of course, Monty noticed something was off. “What is it, Laurel?”
I stroked his forearm where he held me around my waist. “It’s just… Jordy’s okay?”
“He’s floating on clouds.”
“You sure?”
Monty shifted, allowing me to roll onto my back and look at him where he perched himself on one elbow. “You’re anxious because you need him here with you, huh?”
“Fuck. It’s the heat messing with my head, isn’t it?”
Smiling, Monty stroked my cheek. “Probably, yeah. But when he comes back, you can feel him. You can sense his happiness.”
The relief that flooded me as soon as Jordy came back into the room wiped away all my worry.
Wow, I was ridiculously clingy.
He set a tray on a nightstand, with water bottles, some fruit, and power bars. Then he slid under the duvet and scooted so he was pressed to my side. He kissed Monty on the lips, then looked down at me.
“What?”
“I was just low-key freaking out,” I admitted.
“Why?”
I shrugged. “Heat, I guess? It’s like I need to know where you both are all the time, have you close, or I’m off balance.”
Jordy’s sensual lips curved into a half smile. “Is it selfish of me that I like hearing that?”
I bit back a grin. “Maybe a little.”
Jordy smiled wider, but as he studied my face, his expression became serious. He glanced at Monty, then back at me, and brushed his thumb over my bottom lip.
“You threw everything upside down when you barged into my life,” he murmured. “I thought you’d steal Monty from me.”
Monty sucked in a breath but stayed quiet.
“I didn’t mean to…” I began, but Jordy pressed his fingers to my lips, then turned the touch into a caress so tender, I felt tears prickle in my eyes.
Smirking a little self-deprecatingly, he pressed a sweet kiss to the corner of my mouth.
“As if I hadn’t wanted you from the first moment I saw you on Barclay’s lawn, wearing your tightest jeans and your most defiant glare. You messed with my head so badly, I wanted to hate you for it.”
Another kiss, to my nose, and one to my eyebrow.
“You’re what we’ve been missing all along, Laurel. We wouldn’t have made sense without you.”
