MONTY

The omega of my dreams told me he went into heat for me. I found my fated mate. I should be jumping up and down with joy.

What about Jordy?

My paws ate up the narrow path, thudding steadily. I all but flew between the trees, crossing the road in two long jumps, and climbing the slope up to Laurel’s the fastest I could.

Fear clouded my brain, and my heart ached in an unfamiliar way.

My omega needed me. But how could I leave Jordy behind? This wasn’t right. I couldn’t do this to him.

The tall roof of the chalet peeked between the trees. Laurel waited there—alone, helpless, needy. Mine already.

My heart was cracked open, and I blinked away frustrated tears. I could pretend it was the chilly wind blowing into my eyes.

My omega needs me.

My claws dug into the gravel by the main entrance. I spat the rolled-up jeans and flannel out of my muzzle, and my phoneclattered on the porch as it slipped from the bundle. I shifted the fastest I could, my bones protesting. Then I banged on the door.

Naked and shivering, I barely managed to collect my stuff when the door opened.

Laurel gaped at me, taking in my bare skin.

Clutching the bundle of clothes to my groin, I gestured down my body.

“I ran in fur through the forest. It’s the fastest.”

Not saying a word, he nodded and all but fell forward, slumping against me. I hugged him with one arm, inhaled and…Oh fuck. He was going into heat, all right. He moaned into my bare skin.

He only wore sweats and a thin T-shirt. He must be cold standing in the doorway. I moved him inside and let the door close behind us. I dropped my things on a side table by the coatrack and held Laurel with both arms.

“Fuck, you smell divine,” he mumbled.

My mate. I’d found my omega mate.

But the ache in my heart didn’t recede, and not even arousal could dampen it. I clutched Laurel to my chest, feeling helpless.

“When’s Jordy coming?” Laurel piped up.

I blinked. “Is he?”

Laurel leaned back, gazing up at me with glassy eyes. “Shit, I’m so dumb. My brain is mush. I thought he’d come with you.”

“He’s at the pub. I think I told you that. I didn’t get that…”

My omega opened his mouth, but nothing came out. His eyes grew bigger and needier.

Shit!

Was I completely stupid? He’d asked about Jordy, but not in a million years had it occurred to me that…that…

The two of us? Both of us? Was it possible? Could an omega be fated to not one but two bear shifter alphas?

Laurel’s scent grew stronger, and my hard dick pressed against his belly, eager and insistent. I needed to fuck my mate right the hell now, but the ache behind my ribs stopped me from grabbing him and mounting him against the wall.

“Tell me what you need, Laurel,” I urged.

“I want you so much. But we can’t…without…”
