Then Daisy’s phone starts to ring again.
“That might be my father calling from a different number,” she pants before her lips claim mine once more.
“I don’t doubt it,” I say as my lips move across hers.
My phone dings once, then four more times.
“That’s for sure Luisa. The only person to text me with multiple messages for a simple sentence. She knows how much it annoys me. Or maybe my sister, I’ve been ignoring her calls.”
“Must be.” She gently pulls my bottom lip between her teeth and I decide to tug on hers even harder.
I don’t realize I’ve been moving us along until her back hits the front door, causing her to arch deeper into our kiss.
Our phones continue to chime and ring nonstop, and Daisy releases a cute-as-fuck growl below me.
“What do you need? Name it and it’s yours.” I kiss the corner of her mouth, then continue a path down her neck, then back up behind her ear.
“Did you ask me a question?” She sighs dreamily and I smile against the sweet scent of her skin.
“Daisy.” I say her name like a prayer. One that’s finally been answered for me.
“I want everyone to leave us alone. I want this moment to be… only us.” She sags against the door.
I pull myself up enough to see her face. Her swollen lips carry the evidence of our mutual assault, her blown out pupils are laced with desire, and her chest rapidly rises and falls beneath my touch.
I want to memorize every single part of this moment, and like I promised, I’ll give Daisy everything she asks for.
“Wait. I haven’t asked you a single time what it is that you want.” She bites that lip that I’ve decided now belongs to me. “I should have asked you sooner. What doyouwant, Luke?”
“Isn’t it obvious?” I raise my hand, not taking my eyes off her, as I switch off the cell booster, sending us into blissful silence, only our ragged breaths to be heard in my quiet cabin. “You.”
twenty
I’m kissing Luke.
My Luke. The man who has silently stood by my side through it all.
And he’s kissing me back like a man starved.
When he turned off the cell booster, and in turn quieted all the noise coming from our phones and the outside world, something inside him snapped.
“This is your two-second warning I promised you.”
“What?”
Luke swoops down and lifts me into his arms by the back of my thighs, giving me barely a moment’s notice to loop my arms around his neck and hold on for the ride.
“Bed or couch?” he asks gruffly.
My mouth answers before my mind can work itself into knots. “Bed.”
Luke doesn’t release his hold on me as he walks us over, then slowly lowers me to the bed, spreading my legs wider with his body as he crawls over mine, hovering over me without giving me all of his weight.
“You tell me when to stop and we stop. Got it?” he whispers gently over my lips.
“Yeah. Same. But I’m hoping that’s not anytime soon.” I pull him down to me with more strength than I knew I possessed, causing him to drop his weight onto me, and I reclaim his lips with mine.
I feel his hardness pressed between my legs and moan when he brings it closer to where I need him.
