Oh, god. I wanted that dick.
I tried desperately to think of something, anything else.
But it was all coming together. The danger of our situation, which made me want to throw caution to the wind and my clothes in the fire and live like we were about to die. The fact he had been so kind and encouraging about Brody, even telling me to move on to someone new. The heat of his body and the closeness of him – and the fact that I hadn’t shared a bed with anyone for a long time, especially not someone as hot as Aiden.
Aiden, I tried to remind myself. You know – your big brother’s teammate and friend who happens to be extremely straight – that Aiden!
And it didn’t matter, because my body was responding to him in ways that made me ache to at least reach down and stroke myself until I was satisfied.
Not that I would ever dream of actually doing that, because that would be massively taking advantage of Aiden and abusing his trust – even if he was the one who had pulled me against him and tempted me with his rock-hard, massive erection.
I had wondered earlier if this was a dream or a nightmare, or a nightmare about a dream. Now I knew for sure.
Because laying against Aiden and not being able to do a single thing about it was pure, evil, sadistic torture.
And even as I was sure I was never going to sleep all night long, sure I was going to be stuck like this forever and have to somehow pretend I’d been asleep when Aiden finally woke up in the morning, I felt myself starting to get drowsy. Aiden’s warmth was not just enough to stop me from shivering, but it was also comforting and comfortable, like he was the final blanket I had been missing from my bed.
The last thought I had as I drifted into sleep was whether we would wake up like this in the morning – and whether Aiden would even be as embarrassed as I was.
Aiden
A clattering noise had me shooting from fast asleep to wide awake in a matter of seconds, sitting bolt upright and looking at the fireplace.
The fire had all but died down in the night, leaving only embers remaining. But there was something there – I’d heard it. Something…
I grabbed my phone from underneath my pillow and turned on the light, shining it at the fireplace. Beside me, Cade made a small noise of complaint in his sleep, beginning to stir.
“Red,” I whispered urgently. “Red, wake up.”
“What?” he asked, and then opened his eyes fully. I saw the instant he shot awake himself, pushing away from me in what seemed like a panic before his eyes followed the beam of light from my phone.
“Is that…?” he asked.
“It looks like a radio,” I whispered.
“Hello?” The crackling, uncertain voice from the device hanging just above our metal furnace sounded like a miracle.
I leaped out of the bed first, running over to it. Cade leaned over to watch me instead of getting up himself, staying inside the warmth of the blankets. I shivered as my feet hit the cold floor and the heat I’d been wrapped inside abandoned me, but it didn’t matter. I grabbed the radio, attached to a cable from above, and pressed the button on the side.
“Hello?!” I shouted back. “Can anybody hear us?”
“He- can – you,” the voice replied, making no sense as it faded in and out like we were driving through a tunnel.
“We’re down here,” I said desperately. “There’s two of us. Can you hear me? Do you understand?”
“Get – soon,” the voice said and then crackled again.
“Are – are you coming to get us soon?” I replied, feeling hope surge in my chest.
The only reply I could hear was static – and then it cut off.
“Hello?” I asked, pressing the button down. Nothing came in response. I tried again. “Hello? Hello? Are you there?”
“It sounds like we lost signal,” Cade sighed. “It must be because of all the snow.”
I moved the radio around desperately, even shoving my hand halfway back up the chimney to see if that would help. Nothing seemed to work. There wasn’t a single new noise out of it, only silence.
“Shit,” I muttered miserably.
