“Ravyns,” Sythe said, barely taking his attention off Rae. “We can’t have it traced now, can we?”

Of course,Titus thought. It would have to be the currency of the fucking Undercity.

Rae stiffened, her spine rigid. “And you think I have that?” she whispered, rage dripping from every word.

The blonde sniggered, clearly enjoying himself. “There’s other ways to pay, beautiful. You’ll look real pretty on your knees.”

Something inside Titus snapped, his beast roaring to the surface, tearing to get out. It took every ounce of willpower not to leap forward, and rip the blonde’s head clean from his shoulders.

“Come near me,” Rae said with an eerie calmness, “and I’ll cut your fucking dick off.”

Sythe finally looked at him, his expression not changing.‘Calm the fuck down, dude,’he said, connecting mentally.‘You’re going to mess everything up.’

“She’ll do anything you ask,” Miles said, holding his hands out in surrender. “Won’t you, Rae?”

Titus clenched his fist, his chest aching from the power surging between his ribs. He wanted to repel it, the black magic vile on his tongue, but instead he used it to centre himself. He was always the calm Guardian, never losing his temper. But, yet again he found himself on the edge. All because of her.

“Fuck you Miles!” she hissed.

Sythe chuckled, continuing in his character. “As amusing as this is, we still haven’t seen any Ravyns.”

Rae let out a frustrated sound. “I don’t have that sort of money!”

“How much to keep you off his back?” Titus finally said, Rae turning to him with a frown.

Sythe’s expression hardened. “Angel wants all of it.”

“And I’ll get you all of it,” he growled. “So how much to get you off his back until we find that sort of money?”

Sythe cocked his head, looking towards the blonde with a raised brow.

“We’ll take half now,” the blonde said. “Half tomorrow.”

“We don’t have –” Rae began.

“Three days,” Titus interrupted. “Half now, and the other half in seventy-two hours.”

‘What are you doing?’Sythe asked, his face smooth, giving no indication they were communicating.‘He’s a piece of shit. We caught him beating a woman unconscious.’

‘This isn’t for him,’Titus said.‘Take the deal, Sy.’

“How can we trust you?” Sythe said aloud. “I don’t know you from Adam.”

“You haven’t got much choice, have you?” Titus reached into his back pocket, pulling out three Ravyns. They were cold in his palm, around twice the size of a normal pound coin, but rather than metal they were made from solid onyx. Two were engraved with a detailed image of a sphinx, while the third was a unicorn. “Twenty-five now, another twenty-five in seventy-two hours. You either take the deal, or you don’t get anything.”

“Twenty-Five now, thirty in seventy-two hours just for the inconvenience of us having to wait.” Blonde held out his hand, accepting the deal. “Maybe next time, beautiful,” he chuckled towards Rae. “I’m sure you’d be a decent ride.”

Miles was visibly relieved, dropping his chin towards his chest. “You’ll get your money.”

“We know,” Sythe agreed. “Otherwise you’ll be dead.”

The blonde gestured to leave. “Don’t worry, we’ll send Angel your regards. May the light guide you.”

Miles bowed his head. “And give sanctuary from the darkness.”
