Axel’s breathing increased, the growls and moans becoming louder as he thrust up to meet every movement, and Sam knew he was close.

“That’s it,” Sam moaned. “Right there.” His own orgasm coiled tightly at the base of his spine, his dick soaking them both as Axel reached down with a strong grip. His fingers pumped once, twice, and combined with the intense fullness and the hard clasp, Sam exploded, throwing his head back with a shout loud enough it echoed against the walls around them.

Axel’s free hand curled around Sam’s throat, giving him no time before pulling him down so their lips met, swallowing the remaining cry as his cock throbbed. Axel’s hips continued pumping up, his movement frantic as Sam felt him thicken, his cock pulsing deep inside until he found his own orgasm.

The hand on his cock loosened, but the one on his throat remained as Axel breathed heavily, both their bodies slick with sweat and cum. Leaning forward Sam rested his forehead against Axel’s, enjoying the steady thrum of his heart. He wasn’t sure how long they had sat there, embraced in each another, just breathing, when Axel finally shifted them both to the bed, Axel on his back with Sam draped over his chest. His cock slipped out, but neither moved, content to just lay there together on the sheets. Sam hadn’t realised he was purring, a soothing vibration as he revelled in the afterglow of his orgasm. He watched as Axel’s entire body relaxed, eyes closing.

“You make everything quiet,” he whispered, voice soft. Tranquil.

Sam stroked down Axel’s chest, fingers exploring every curve and hard line. The skin he touched brightened, a pale white glow emitting from the tattoos that were such an intricate design Sam felt himself mesmerised by the patterns.

“You’ve told me that before,” Sam said, not sure what he meant. “When you first kissed me.”

“Fuck, yeah I did.” Axel grunted. “I still can’t believe I shot up at Riley’s bar, right where my brothers could see me. I guess I’d fallen earlier than I thought.”

Sam purred harder, pressing his chest against Axel’s arm so he could feel the gentle vibration. It was supposed to sooth other cats, a natural instinct he couldn’t help.

“I was high, that must have been what gave me the push to finally kiss you. It’s the one thing I don’t regret.” Axel turned his head, eyes opening. “You make me feel… at peace. There are no intrusive thoughts when you’re around, my beast’s content.”

“Are you just saying this because you just had a mind-blowing orgasm?” Sam chuckled, enjoying Axel’s skin reacting at his caress.

Axel frowned with a sudden seriousness that cut off Sam’s purr. “You’re an Omega, aren’t you?”

Sam stopped stroking, fingers paused on his right pectoral before rolling onto his back, facing the ceiling. “Aye, I think so. But I wouldn’t say I was a particularly effective one,” he said with a laugh devoid of humour.

“You think so?”

“I’ve never actually been told what I was, only that I was damaged because I didn’t have the natural instincts to bow to those more dominant.” Memories of his father beating him because he didn’t advert his eyes fast enough forced their way to the forefront of his mind. “Omegas are supposed to be the centre of a pack,” he continued. “The heart, but my father thought I was more of a burden.”

Axel sat up, resting on his elbow. “When did you figure out you were probably an Omega?”

A small smile, Sam remembering the young, blonde girl carrying several books far bigger than herself. “It was Alice who stole me some books when I was about ten. I couldn’t read then, so she read them out loud and helped me understand. I used to sneak into her room at night, sleeping as a leopard on the foot of her bed.”

Sam traced Axel’s relaxed expression as he listened intently.

“It was because of her that I didn’t starve to death on the streets. That I was warm and safe with a roof over my head.”

“You were only a kid.”

“Living rough was better than going back to my father and pack. I owe Alice everything, without her I wouldn’t be here.”

“She says the same about you, you know,” Axel said, smiling.

Sam blinked, reaching up to brush his fingers along Axel’s jaw. “I had people try and help, but for obvious reasons I had a huge distrust of adults. So it was Alice who stole the books, and that’s where I learned that Omegas aren’t part of the normal pack structure, that we have Alpha tendencies without the need for bloodthirst.”

“A protector without the aggression.”

Sam shrugged, the sheets scratchy against his back. “I supposedly have a calming aura. I think it’s one of the reasons my father hated me, because he thought I was trying to influence him.”

Axel pressed into his touch, the edges of his irises glimmering. “I’m sorry about your house, that you’ve lost everything you’ve built.”

Sam dragged his fingers down, caressing Axel’s velvety soft lips. “It’s just a house. Just things. It hurts now, but I’ve suffered worse and will come back stronger. You should always look for the sunshine, otherwise the darkness will swallow you whole.”

“That’s… a great way to deal with it.”

Sam laughed. “Years of therapy, baby.”

Axel’s smile matched his, widening as he leaned down. The kiss was soft, gentle compared to before, and Sam melted into the touch, his leopard content to wrap itself up in the affection.
