“Well, this was fun, but I’ve got work to do,” Becca announced. “We should try to do this at least once a week, though. A roomies night for dinner!”
“Yes!” Macie squealed in agreement. “That would be so nice.” They both cleared their dishes and kept talking about plans for a night next week as they headed up to their rooms, leaving us at the table.
We sat quietly for a moment, needing to make sure we were alone. Once we heard the footsteps overhead, Logan reached for my chair, pulling it closer, the wood pegs scraping along the vinyl floor. He took my feet and wrapped them around his waist, pulling me between his own widespread legs. As he cradled my face, he studied me with intent eyes.
“I couldn’t wait for them to leave,” he said. “When you put your hand on my leg, I don’t know, it did something inside. The risk you took…” His lips settled on mine, gentle as air, as his tongue begged entrance into my mouth. The slow swirl of our tongues as he kissed me, as he held my face in his hands, as our bodies fought to get closer. I forgot about all the reasons doing this with him was a bad idea.
“You’re coming to my room tonight,” he whispered against my mouth. “Set your alarm for two a.m.”
Pulling back, I shook my head at him. But he held my head still and stared me square in the eye.
“You’re visiting me tonight, Tink. They’re both on another floor, they won’t hear us.”
Of course I wanted to as well, but usbeing togetherwhile they were home, in the house with us, made my heart race. And not in a good way. But if we were going to make this work, it was going to have to be like this.
Secret.
“OK.”
He kissed me on the lips one more time before moving my legs from his lap.
“I’m heading up to get some studying done,” he said before grabbing his dishes from the table.
He worked at the sink while I sat, ruminating about what was to come later tonight.
“Those wheels turning in your head are about to bust out and roll across the floor, Tink.” He laughed as he placed his dishes in the dishwasher. “Don’t think so hard. I’m the one with anxiety issues, remember?”
As he walked back to me, I admired the way he looked in his sweatpants. The way they clung to his narrow hips and hung low enough to show the band of his boxer briefs underneath. He dipped and kissed me on the nose before spinning on his heels and heading out of the room.
“Go get some work done, Tink. Either that or get some sleep, but don’t forget to set your alarm.”
Two a.m.
Alarm set.
CHAPTER 19
Ava
There really wasn’t a need to set my alarm, I never fell asleep. Turns out I had a lot of work to do, and by the time I finished, it was after one anyway. Besides, the way my heart was racing with anticipation, there was no way I’d have fallen asleep. So, I jumped in the shower. It didn’t hurt to be clean when you knew you were having sex.
This was new for me, getting ready for a hook-up session, with a guy I lived with, would see again, and had feelings for. I kind of wanted to look nice. As I rummaged through my underwear drawer, I pulled out every piece of lingerie I owned, deciding it was time for some new ones. Instead, I settled on my prettiest black lace bra and thong set, complete with matching bows. My robe sufficiently covered my body and kept me warm as I tied the belt around my waist.
I didn’t bother with makeup, but I did spray myself with perfume. Logan mentioned once he liked the way I smelled.
A few minutes before two, I opened my bedroom door and listened intently for any noise coming from above. Both Becca’s and Macie’s rooms were on the third floor, and it was quiet.
As I tiptoed down the hall to his door, I noticed the soft glow of his TV underneath. I put my ear against the wood and listened.
Nothing.
With one knuckle, I lightly tapped on it. Within seconds, Logan had the door open and loomed over me, his large body taking up the entire doorway.
“Hey, beautiful,” he whispered as he grabbed me by the hand and whisked me into his room. He gently shut his door, careful not to make any loud noises. He spun around and held me at arm’s length, looking down at me. “You look amazing, Ava.”
“I’m in a robe, Logan.”
“Yeah, well, you could be in a potato sack, it’s never about what you’re wearing.”
