“Oh, that’s good coffee,” she said.
I took a sip and had to agree. But I was also pretty hungry after the energy expended last night.
“Want me to make us some breakfast?” I asked her.
“I think we should talk first, don’t you?”
Leaning back, I nodded. I was suddenly nervous, unsure of how this was going to go, yet I knew it needed to happen. I thought back to some words of advice Dr. Jean gave me at a session a few months ago. She told me that when I felt nervous about my circumstances to remember that it was always temporary regardless of how permanent the feelings felt. The situation was temporary.
“Yes, we should figure this out,” I told her.
Ava remained quiet, sipping on her coffee. For someone who wanted to talk, she wasn’t doing much of it.
“Well,” she finally said. “Like I said last night, Macie really can’t find out about us, or any of this. She’d be so mad at me. I’d lose her trust.”
That was what she said last night. But I wasn’t about to be a one-night stand while living in this house with her. Not after the night we just had.
So, I decided I was going to take the bull by the horns and really find out how she felt. “Ava, I like you. I know you want to keep this a ‘forbidden secret,’ and I understand why. But I’d like to make sure it’s for the right reasons. I don’t want to be tossed aside after this weekend. I feel like we made a connection, and I’m willing to make a go at this, whatever this is, even if we have to work at keeping it to ourselves.”
She was quiet again. Then she placed her mug on the table and moved toward me, all the way to me, climbing onto my lap. She wrapped her arms around my neck and looked me square in the eyes.
“Logan, you need to understand something about me. I haven’t been in a relationship since I was a junior in high school. Three years since I’ve had a boyfriend.”
I didn’t like the way this was headed.
“Him and I started dating when we were freshman, and then one day, our junior year, I found him in bed with my best friend. Needless to say, I not only lost my boyfriend but my best friend that day.”
Yikes. So many reasons for her to have trust issues.
“I made a pact with myself to steer clear of relationships,” she said.
Instinctively, I turned from her, not wanting to face rejection. But she gripped my cheek and turned my face back toward hers.
“Until I met you.” She smiled. “Ya know, I even called my mom about you. I mean, kind of. I asked her a bunch of questions that were kind of about you. And look, here we are.” She pushed against my chest with playful anger. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m scared shitless, but I think I’m too far gone not to wanna give this a shot with you. I just wish we weren’t roommates, it would make it so much easier with Macie.”
I gripped her ass, pulling her toward me. Then my hands went under her shirt, thankful she still didn’t have on a bra. I grabbed her tits, finding her nipples and those ridiculously hot piercings and playfully flicked them with my fingers.
“But think about how much fun we’re gonna have sneaking around this place, fucking in every room of this house,” I said.
She stood and went to my wallet again, retrieving the last foil packet I had down here. She handed it to me, pulled down her thong and pulled off my shirt she wore.
“That does sound like fun. How about for now we christen the kitchen island?”
Avaand I planned on completing our school project that afternoon since we were housebound. There was so much snow we couldn’t even drive anywhere to go sledding or skating. We spent about three hours finishing up the marketing plan and creating some social media content for the company. We were both more than satisfied with how it turned out.
“I think we’ll ace this thing,” she said as we packed up our computers.
I couldn’t disagree.
“Are you hungry?” I asked.
“Christ, man, is food all you think about? You made us huge omelets like only…” She looked at her phone for the time. “Wow, that was like four hours ago. I can’t believe it’s almost dinnertime already.”
We slept in, talked for a bit. Then our christening of the island took us well into the afternoon. Throw in the hours we’d been working, and the day was winding down.
“And, no, food is not all I think about. Not with you dressed in only my shirt all day.”
She sashayed away from me, that fine ass hidden by the long tee. I wanted to grab her, throw her over my shoulder, bring her upstairs, and do everything I’d already done to her body all over again, but in a bed.
