Troy leaned close to her face.“Your little fuck toy isn’t here to save you this time.”

“Get your hands off of her.”June felt her legs shake, hearing the voice of an angel. She looked over her shoulder to see Rob and Liam walking side by side ready to take on these men.

“You guys are so fucked,” she chuckled.

Chapter 42

Rob took in the men surrounding June. He’d seen them trying to drag her off of the street to a dark corner, and it didn’t take a genius to figure out what they had planned.Rob recognized one of the assailants as the man who’d accosted June when he’d saved her in the alley.Obviously, the guy hadn’t taken Rob’s warning and beating seriously.

If he thought his backup crew was going to help him, he had another thing coming. If they fought anything like him, then Rob and Liam would easily disband them without breaking a sweat.

“Do you want to split them? Two and two?”

Liam glanced over at him from the corner of his eye.“You don’t want to do this on your own?Impress my sister and all that.”

Rob didn’t doubt his skill, but taking on four people by himself was a bit much even before his accident.“I don’t want to be accused of being a glory hound.”

Liam chuckled.“Fat chance of that.”

One of the men came at them with a bellow.Liam charged at him and grabbed him by the neck then slammed him into the asphalt, knocking the wind out of him.He looked back and smirked at Rob before taking off toward the others.Rob watched transfixed as Liam took on another assailant. The way the guy moved was incredible. He was highly trained.

Not wanting to be shown up, Rob charged into the fray and punched an assailant who was trying to sneak up on Liam.Liam glanced over at his shoulder and nodded his thanks.“About time you showed up.”

They stood back-to-back as they punched and kicked their attackers. As Rob suspected, they weren’t skilled at fighting. They used their male physique to attack weaker women.

Rob looked around for June, hoping she was out of danger now only to see her fighting with the guy who’d attacked her to begin with. The guy had a knife and was swiping it toward June’s face.Rob went to intercede when he caught the flash of silver. He leaned back as a knife swiped in front of his face.

He kicked out at the guy who then caught his leg and attempted to drive his knife into it.Rob punched the guy in the nose, feeling the cartilage shatter and blood spray everywhere. The guy stumbled back, clutching his nose between his hands.Rob spun-kicked him in the side of the head, knocking him out.

He looked around for June again to assist her.Liam had just knocked out the last one and was looking for her as well. They both saw her around the same time as she kicked the knife out of the guy’s hand and followed up with a kick between the legs.

Both men cupped themselves in sympathy, though this guy deserved it.She glanced over at them and ran into her brother’s arms.

Rob looked away, knowing he had no one to blame but himself for June choosing Liam over him.

“What are we going to do about them?”Rob looked down at all the men either unconscious or writhing on the ground.

“We’ll let the police handle them. Not bad for ex-Special Forces.”

“Not bad for whatever you do.”

Liam smiled.“I’m a Delta.”

Holy shit.No wonder his file was classified, and Rob kept hitting so many walls trying to look him up.No wonder June went out of her way to protect her brother’s identity.

Deltas were the best of the best.Highly trained in all fields as he had been.No wonder his fighting technique was so on point. It would have been a bloody fight between them had they come to blows.

“If you ever tell anyone, I will kill you and hide the body where no one will find it.Even Nick won’t ask questions,” Liam said in all seriousness.

Rob didn’t doubt it.“Your secret is safe with me.”

“Good.”Liam held out his hand, which Rob shook.“I was wrong about you, Robert.”

“Rob,” he corrected.“I don’t like nicknames.”

“Rob,” Liam amended.“You are good enough for my sister. If she’ll have you.”

Rob looked down at the woman in question. He hoped she could forgive him as easily as the last time.
