Chapter 26

“How did it go?”Luke asked, looking up from his desk when Carson walked in.

“My contact gave me the info I needed,” Carson responded, holding up the file and handing it to Luke.“There’s a ship called the Intrepid headed for LA Harbor. It will be there tomorrow.”

“And they are convinced Yurgio is on it?”

Carson thumbed through the file.“The ship is registered to a relation of one of Yurgio’s contacts.”

“Your contact is thorough.Giving us a layout of the harbor as well as the manifest. It will help in our plan of attack.According to this, there will be a crew of ten.Which shouldn’t pose a problem for the seven of us.Jack, double-check with your contact at Interpol. If we are going to attack this vessel, I want to make sure it’s the right damn boat first.”

“On it.”Jack nodded then picked up his phone.A few minutes later, he hung up.“Intel is good.”

“Alright.”Luke looked thoughtful for a moment before standing up and heading for the war table.“We know the where, and the when, and even how many. The only question will be, how many will have weapons?”

“You can guarantee there will be lots of weapons.Yurgio is a weapons dealer.”

“Yes, but what kind?”

“Given Yurgio’s history and his dealings, machine guns, RPGs, handguns. The shipment he received from Niger had a missile on it as well.”

“More firepower than we’d be equipped to handle.”

“We need to set up some traps before they anchor,” Carson remarked, following him.The rest of the team was on his heels. He didn’t need to double-check Charlotte’s work. She’d never let him down before. The intel had been good the last time; someone had just tipped off the local police. She couldn’t have controlled that.

“Can the staff at the harbor be trusted?”

“Most likely not, but I’m not sure we should even trust local authorities with this one, given what happened the last time.”

No one wanted a repeat of that blood bath.

Luke pulled out the map and aerial shots of the harbor that Charlotte had provided and spread them out over the table.“According to the intel, there is a staff of six on night crew at the docks. So, thirteen altogether with an unknown number of weapons,” he said more to himself as his eyes coasted along the map.

“We can place men at these locations.”Greg grabbed the figurines they used for planning and placed them on the front and back end of the ship.

“At least one should cover the front gate where a guard will be posted,” Barry added.

“Crews will be walking around too, so we’ll need men throughout the compound as well as having the water covered in case they have an emergency boat,” Jack chipped in.They all stared at the figurines trying to cover all the angles.

“The Colonel isn’t going to give us more men,” Luke said out loud what they were all thinking.

“I can call some friends in.They live up in Washington. They could be in LA by tomorrow,” Barry mentioned.

“How many?”

“As many as we need.”Barry shrugged.“There’s a bar and refuge up there that a buddy of mine owns and operates.Vets that need a place to get back on their feet are welcome up there.I’ve sent some people there over the years. If I call, they’ll come.”

“Do it.We need to make a plan of attack. We need to assume everyone at that harbor is an enemy. This is a capture situation, men, not leave a trail of bodies.”

Barry pulled out his cell phone and dialed a number.“Kane, it’s Barry.Yeah, long time.Hey, I need a favor. Can you round up some of the guys for a mission at LA Harbor for tomorrow?I don’t need a whole army, but at least five or six guys.Alright, thanks, man.See you then.”Barry hung up and addressed the group.“Kane said he can get a group of guys down to LA by tomorrow afternoon.”

“Can they be trusted for this?”

“One hundred percent. They won’t ask any questions.”

“Good. With them, we can cover all possible angles. We have a plan.Jack, arrange for flights. The sooner we can get to LA, the better to get a good lay of the land.”

“Zoe is not going to be happy with me for leaving without her.”Greg chuckled.
