His balls tingled, signaling he couldn’t hold off any longer. “Come with me, kitten.” He hoped she was ready. He didn’t want to go without her.

“Yes…” Zoe shuddered around him, and Greg was hopeless but to fall with her and sink into oblivion.

Chapter 13

What had she done? They’d had sex, she knew that. She’d had plenty of sex in her life to know what she’d physically done, though that was hands down the best sex of her life. The kind that left her sated and her bones liquid.

She should be dozing like Logan right now. The man had completely exhausted her. She wasn’t sure if she got out of bed if her legs would even support her. It didn’t change the fact that he now knew she was a DEA agent undercover to shut down Maxim and his partners. Knowledge that could get her and several other people killed. She wasn’t afraid to die. She had known the risks when she’d agreed to go undercover, but Maxim wouldn’t stop at just her death. He would come after her whole team like the black plague and wipe them all out.

Maxim was ruthless and cunning. She’d seen firsthand what he’d done to people that had come after him before. The fact that she’d worked so closely with him and Viktor, her death would be a lesson to those who would even think to come after him again. She shuddered at the thought.

So why had she slept with Logan? Okay, not sleep, sex. God, the sex. Her pussy ached from the overuse and countless orgasms. She was getting sidetracked. Again.

One minute she’d been fighting Logan. Then a knife was pressed to her neck. She thought that was the end. Even egged him on to finish her off. Then he backed off and said no. That had been her opening. She’d taken the knife from him, ready to end him and keep her secret safe, but then she’d hesitated.

Her stupid conscience reared its ugly head. Reminding her that he’d saved her life more than once. The way he treated her. The way he looked at her. He didn’t make her feel like a meal ticket to get close to Maxim. To him, she was a desirable woman. He made herfeel.

Like two ends of a magnet, they came together, and she was powerless to stop the rush. Not that she’d wanted to. There had been an insane energy between them since they’d met. The only reason she’d kept her distance was one, she didn’t mix business and pleasure. Guess that rule was out now. And two, the man had heartbreak written all over him, and she’d had her fair share of heartbreak.

She should have killed Logan before. Sex tended to complicate things. A lesson she should have learned years ago. A lesson she thought she had. Obviously not.

Zoe looked down at Logan sleeping peacefully. He didn’t seem off-put about her being an agent. He’d been shocked, but he didn’t act like he was ready to call Maxim and rat her out. Could she trust him? She had little experience in trust. She wasn’t in the position of trust. All she could rely on was herself.

Her team couldn’t support her at the mansion. Everything was on her. Or did it have to be? Logan hadn’t seemed upset about learning she was DEA. Shocked, yes. Upset, no. Which begged the question: could she trust him with her secret?

That was the million dollar question. She’d done a lot of questionable things in the name of government justice. Trusting unknowns to help her take down drug lords wasn’t one of them.

She needed to get rid of him. He wasn’t worth the risk of her year’s worth of operation. Logan was a man of secrets, just like her. There was a reason he had come into that club. There was a reason he’d wanted to work for Maxim, but she couldn’t trust they were both on the same agenda. But how to get rid of him, and was he going to tell Maxim before she came up with a plan?

“I must not have done my job right. I can hear you thinking,” Logan said, his eyes still closed.

“I wouldn’t say that,” she husked, rolling to her side and propping her head on her hand. “After multiple orgasms, my bones are liquid.”

She should be keeping her distance from him. He could be another enemy. There was the saying ‘keep your friends close but your enemies closer,’ but she didn’t think this was what they’d meant.

She just couldn’t seem to help herself, even knowing he was a potential enemy she would have to kill if he betrayed her to Maxim, she wanted to be close. There was something seriously wrong with her. Maybe it was time to get out of this profession. Ten years as a field agent and undercover in the drug world was warping her brain.

That sleepy look was gone from his eyes. They were sharp and focused. She preferred the former. Now his brain was working. “Yet, I can see you are antsy. What’s on your mind?”

“Are you going to tell Maxim?” she blurted out. She had meant to be more suave about it, but it was her most pressing matter. Not that she expected an honest answer. What person lying naked next to you in bed was going to admit, he was going to turn you over to your boss to be tortured then murdered?

“No.” Zoe couldn’t have been more shocked had he said he was an alien sent to earth to impregnate her. “I told you before, we all have secrets.”

“Yeah, but this is a big deal, Logan.” She was an undercover agent about to shut down three drug leaders. That kind of intel could put him high on Maxim’s list and would also see her crucified.

“Greg, my name is Greg.” What the hell was he talking about? His name was Logan.

Greg sighed. Zoe could see a resignation in his eyes, and it sent a ball of lead into the pit of her stomach. Here it was. The other shoe that was about to drop. “My name is Greg Larson. I’m an undercover agent like you.”

Zoe sat up, wrapping the sheet around her, suddenly feeling naked and vulnerable. Her mind was trying to wrap around what he was saying, but she was struggling. He was an agent. “What?”

Logan or Greg or whatever his name was just laid there completely at ease. Did he always lie about his name and job and sleep with them then just casually drop info bombs like it was nothing?

“I work for a small military group based here out of Vegas. I was sent to infiltrate Maxim’s team and find evidence of his drug dealing and where it’s coming from and shut him down.”

“And I’m just supposed to believe that?” Zoe scoffed. Of all the excuses…

“I don’t have a badge like you. We work covert.”
