Royce had never allowed Olivia to have company over, and all Royce had was male business colleagues. She wasn’t used to being around so many women, but she wasn’t being shy for once around new people, so that was a plus.

Linzy beamed at her, like she just met a new best friend. “I run a dog rescue.”

“What’s that?”

“I take in animals that were abused or neglected and give them love and attention, until they’re happy dogs again and adopt them out to loving homes.”

“I’d love to see them and learn more about that.” Ivy turned to her. “If that’s okay, Mom.”

“Of course.” Olivia might even go see them. It had been years, since she was around a dog.

Two women who helped abused beings, two more involved in investigating and security, and one was a computer programmer. These were some pretty incredible women. Olivia considered herself lucky to have them as friends. Though, it did worry her about them finding out the truth about her. Ivy didn’t seem as concerned, as she and Linzy got in a deep conversation about dogs.

“I know you said you have to find a new job, but what do you say to spending the afternoon with us? Get some lunch and even check out Linzy’s farm?”

Olivia was tempted, but she really needed to focus on getting a job today, and she couldn’t afford to splurge on lunch, when there were hardly any groceries in the house. As was, they ran out of cereal and eggs, so no one had, had breakfast yet. That was one of the reasons she was coming into the diner. “I can’t today. I really need to talk to Kathy or find a second job.” She didn’t mean to sound desperate, but she was. Olivia only had a few hundred dollars left, and now, she didn’t have a mode of transportation to get to work or help her carry groceries. Her options were limited.

“I might have a solution.” Abigail announced.

“And what’s that?” She was open to anything besides working on base.

“I’ll tell you, when you come to my office. I’ll tell you my solution, and we get to know each other. It’s a win-win.”

“I don’t want to put you out like that.”

“Does it look like we’re doing anything else?” Kinsley pointed out with an arched brow.

It didn’t, but Olivia still felt she was abusing their kindness. She wasn’t used to asking for help. Everything she had done in her life had been on her own.

And look where that got you.

Maybe, it was time to ask for help. She was so tired of carrying all of the burden. “Okay, I’ll come.”

“It’s settled, then.” Abigail rubbed her hands together excitedly.

“Abbie likes solving mysteries.” Kinsley whispered in Olivia’s ear.

“I hear she hides and makes Aaron solve puzzles to find her sometimes.” Hannah added giggling.

That was just too much information. Sex games also just sounded odd to her. What was wrong with just plain sex? Why add games? She didn’t get it and wasn’t about to ask.

“Let’s go to my office, and we’ll go over everything.”

“How about we let these two finish their breakfast first, Abs?” Kinsley nudged her.

Abigail looked like she wanted to argue, as her body hummed with enthusiasm. The woman looked like she was going to get her a job by the end of the day or else. “Here’s my address. Come over after you’re finished. We’ll find you the perfect job.” Abigail handed Olivia a business card, and the women left.

“I like them.” Ivy said after they left.

Olivia smiled, flipping the card over and over again her hand. “I do, too.”

“I want to see Linzy’s farm and all her dogs.”

“We will.”

“I have a feeling good things are about to happen, Mom.”

Olivia agreed. “Me too, kiddo. Now, finish your breakfast, so you can hang out with Susan. I’m going to take my plate to the back to clean.”
