Olivia rolled her eyes, but she kissed his cheek. “Why?”
That wasn’t what he had in mind. “Give me a real kiss, and I’ll answer you.”
“Just one kiss.” Olivia leaned forward with her lips puckered. Heath didn’t waste another second. He closed the distance and met her in the middle.
The electricity that had been running between them quickly morphed into an inferno. Every time he kissed her it got better. All other women melted from his mind, and only one woman remained.Olivia.His tongue slipped between her parted lips, as he leaned closer to her. Olivia seemed to be in agreement, as she scooted closer, until their arms touched. It took all of his will power not to reach out and touch every part of her body. Slow, he needed to go at her pace.
Heath started to reach for her, and then realized he also promised not to touch her without her permission. Let it not be said he wasn’t a man of his word.
Olivia suddenly pulled away. Heath almost whimpered, because he wasn’t done kissing her. Not by a long shot. A strand of hair fell over her eyes, as his fingers twitched, wanting to brush it back. “Why aren’t you touching me?”
“I promised you I wouldn’t without your permission.”
“So, I can touch and kiss you as much as I want, but you can’t, unless I say so?”
It would kill him to do so. “Yes,” he really hoped she wouldn’t test him. He had never wanted a woman, like he did Olivia and having her so close and finally willing, was shredding his resolve.
Olivia seemed to take his word in stride, and there was a hesitation in her eyes.
“Don’t worry. We won’t do anything you don’t want.” He assured her.
“That’s not what I’m worried about.”
Heath set his hormones to the side for a moment, as he didn’t miss the concern in her voice. “What are you worried about?”
Olivia licked her lips. “How much I want you. I’m afraid if I give in now, you’ll think I’m no different than any of the other women you’ve been with, and you’ll forget about me tomorrow and move on to the next woman.”
Heath’s heart stuttered. Silly, beautiful woman. He needed to set her straight. “I could never think of you like any other woman, because there’s no one like you. All other women pale in comparison to you, and no, I’ve never said that to anyone else, just you.” He vowed, placing soft kisses on her chin and cheeks. “I told you before that we’ll take this one step at a time. Whether we make love tonight or weeks from now, it makes no difference to me. I’ll still want you.”
Olivia swung a leg over his waist and settled over him. Hell yeah, he was on board for this. She clutched both sides of his face and pulled him to her. Heath kept his hands clenched at his side, as Olivia started grinding on him. Holy shit, she tortured him better than an insurgent. He would say or do anything she wanted just so he could touch her.
“Please, tell me I can touch you.” If he couldn’t get his hands on her soon, he might burst. He had never been so wound up from a kiss before.
“Touch me,” she commanded.
Heath didn’t hesitate, and his hands rose up to place one to her back, bringing her closer, and the other to cup the side of her face. They both leaned towards each other at the same time. Olivia moaned against his lips, before opening them to allow his tongue to slip in.
Heath’s hand on her face rose to run through her hair. He had been wanting to know what it felt like for over a month. It was so soft, as he went down. Heath pulled back from her lips to bury his nose in her hair, taking a deep breath of her floral scent, feeling drunk from it.
Olivia titled her head back, granting him access, as her hands roamed over his clothed, covered chest. Heath trailed butterfly kisses along the side of her neck to her shoulder. He was thankful she wore a spaghetti strap shirt, allowing him full access to her.
Heath’s hand on her back skimmed down to the hem of her shirt, his fingers gliding over the exposed skin there. So soft and smooth. He wanted to rip the fabric over her head, so he could look his fill. To lick and kiss every inch of her body. To bring to her climax over and over again, until she forgot her name, forgot the world, and forgot everything.
His hand was reaching under her shirt, when Olivia pulled back and said, “We have to stop.”
Heath wanted to protest, to kiss her to distraction and make her forget saying those horrible words. He didn’t want to stop. He didn’t ever want to stop. It wouldn’t take much to change her mind. Her body was already lucid in his arms. A few well-placed kisses and some sweet words, and he would have her on the flat of her back ready for him.
It was only his promise and her earlier hesitations that halted him. He would wait, until she was ready and not a minute before. Heath could be patient. The wait would be well worth it. It had been so far.
Olivia slid off his lap and retook her seat next to him. Her cheeks were rosy, hair in disarray, and lips swollen from his kisses. All in all, she looked like a pleasured woman. The only thing that would have topped it was if he’d brought her to climax. “I think I have fulfilled my promise of a kiss, so now it’s time for you to answer my question.” Olivia kept her eyes diverted from his. Heath couldn’t allow that. What they had done was nothing to be ashamed of.
Heath touched her cheek, pulling her head to meet his gaze. “If I had my choice, I would never stop kissing you. I’ve never wanted a woman like I want you, and that’s not just a line. It’s the truth. You’re very special to me, Olivia.”
“This is the first time in a long time I’ve felt alive.” She softly admitted.
His heart warmed at her endearment. “Me too.” He admitted, stroking his thumb over her cheek. She said they had to stop, but he couldn’t stop touching her. He never wanted to stop. Heath was already addicted the feel of her in his arms, the sound of her voice, and the smell of her skin. If he wasn’t careful, he would be in danger of falling for her.
Ha, like that would happen. He would stop that, before it ever came to that. It was just the newness of everything, and of finally having her in his arms. The feeling would fade eventually, like it did with everyone else. He had just never felt it this intense before. Probably, because this was the longest he had chased a woman. He was going through withdrawals not having a woman in a while.
