“Good. See you soon, Stone,” Bender ends the call.

“Shit!” I yell and toss Reaper his phone back.

“What’s up, Prez?” Chains asks as the brothers huddle around.

“Change of plans, boys. We leave before dawn tomorrow, make plans and settle all your affairs now. They arrive soon.”

I walk away from the group and roar my bike out of the compound. I’ve got some loose ends to tie up before I leave in the morning, and I know just where to start.

We’ve been gone four days on this protection run and have already dropped off the merchandise and are on our way back down south. Something has come up with the Great Falls, Montana Chapter, so we have to detour there making us add an extra day or so to our trip. I’ve talked with Raegan every day to check in with her, but it’s not the same as seeing her. Her roommate from college is in town for a visit and has been keeping her busy from our conversations.

For some reason I hated having to going on this run. Usually, I don’t mind the difference in scenery, but this one was hard to go on. Ever since Raegan has come into my life, I feel as though something in me is changing. It has nothing to do with the club or my brothers, and I can’t quite put my finger on it yet. It’s like the moment we sped out from the Sweetwater city limits, I was itching to turn around and get back there.

I see the clubhouse up ahead and motion to my brothers. We slow as we watch their prospects open the gates to let us in. I haven’t been here in over a year and can’t wait to see some familiar faces. Some of the other men that I’d prospected with came up here to patch when I patched over to Sweetwater five years ago. Bulldog and I go way back and did some of the craziest shit before we got voted in. He’s now taken over as the president here.

The name suits him as he’s as mean as a junkyard dog when he gets into a fight or if you piss him off. He’s a damn good man though, always does what’s right for the sake of the club. We were inseparable until I got the call about Dad. I always thought he’d make a great VP for me, but he’s a better president here for these brothers.

As we get off our bikes, we’re greeted by the club. Bulldog rounds me with a hard pat on the back against my aching muscles. He’s as sturdy as a brick house, built of solid muscle that could crush a man.

“Stone, how’s it going, brother?” Bulldog asks as we walk into his clubhouse.

The place is jumping and looks just like it did last time I was here. Club whores are everywhere and are pouncing on my guys as they walk through the doors. Bulldog and I walk over to the bar and take a seat.

“So, what did you need from us?” I ask getting to the reason.

“We got a problem with a new group trying to push drugs from our northern border and setting up shop right outside of town.”

“Really? Someone we know?”

“Nah. Bunch of young wannabes who watch too much TV. The problem is, they’ve got the numbers and weapons to out maneuver us. I was going to call in some Nomads, but I hear they’re watching your club until you get back.”

“Yeah, we’ve run into some problems with the Vipers. Didn’t feel right to leave the place unguarded.”

A prospect comes over and replaces our beers just as two ladies walk over to us. I recognize one of them; I used to have her service me on the regular when I was here.

“Hey, Stone. You need something to help relieve that long ride?” Peaches asks. She keeps her hands to herself and waits for permission to touch me.

Bulldog is already wrapped around the other woman with his hand up her skirt.

“Nah, Darlin’, I’m good.”

Bulldog halts his movements on the girl and has a disbelieving expression across his face as I decline her offer. Never once did I turn down pussy when I lived here. Every night I’d have a Sweetbutt servicing me, it didn’t matter who she was.

“You sure, honey?” Peaches offers again and steps closer to me.

“What’s up, Stone? Got an Ol’ Lady or something!” he jokes but then sees the look on my face. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me. Never would’ve imagined that mighty Stone be saddled down by a single woman. She must be a special piece of ass if you’re throwing away pussy that’s offered.”

Bulldog and I go way back and have done things that would give a normal man nightmares. We’ve stolen, set fires, killed, and even hidden bodies together. We might not share the same blood, but we’re brothers in every sense of the word. When I hear him talk about Raegan like that, it makes me forget the history we share and want to end him.

Staying silent is the best solution at this moment, I need to try to calm the buzzing I feel when someone speaks about my wildcat like that.

He must sense the air in the room changing because he sends the whores away. “What’s up with you, brother?” Bulldog asks taking a long pull from his bottle of beer not knowing that he’s close to stepping on a landmine.

“She’s different, man.” I narrow my eyes at him, and I can hear how the room has quieted down a bit watching us. I know how loyal my men are to me and how at the drop of a hat they’d killer a fucker without hesitating.

“Hot damn! Christ almighty, Stone, you claimed her yet?” He bangs the bar top then swings out hitting my upper arm in congratulations.

“Not in front of the club yet, but she knows she’s mine.”
