Taking a deep breath, I pulled open the door and stepped inside. The smell of cinnamon and cranberries instantly filled my nose. I hummed as a sense of comfort wrapped around me. It was as if I were right at home.
“I’ll be right with you,” a woman’s voice called from the back of the store.
Her voice sounded familiar, but then again, I’ve spoken with a lot of people today, and everyone started to sound the same. I walked over to the reference section of the bookstore and picked up a copy of Computer Programming and Coding. I had already read the book hundreds of times, but it still made me smile; it was in the store. The only reason I found my copy was because I had to order it online. Glancing around some more, I found a few other books that I wanted to read. I’m sure it would help me finish my prototype before I found the right investor.
“I’m sorry about that. I hope I didn’t keep you waiting–”
The woman’s words got cut off as I turned around to face her. My heart slammed against my chest as I stared at the beautiful woman before me.
“Natalie?”
She bit her upper lip before she shifted her weight on her feet. “Dexter. Wh-what are you doing here?”
“I, uh, I’m your two-thirty interview.”
Her eyebrows dipped before she slowly shook her head. “No.”
“What do you mean, no?”
“You know exactly what I mean! After what happened a few months back…” She briefly closed her eyes and exhaled a long breath. “Look, I don’t know how you found me, but I know you are not William Newman from the staffing agency. Unless you lied about your name. I mean, I know I did, but I told you the truth.”
I rubbed the back of my neck. “About that.”
“You lied about your name?” Natalie gasped, throwing her hand over her chest.
“No, no.” I laughed with a slight shake of my head. “Look, I overheard that William guy outside, and he was offered anotherjob opportunity. I planned to step in as him for an interview and explain who I was to the owner. I had no idea this was your store.”
Natalie glared at me for a brief moment before she looked at her watch and back at the door. “How do I know you’re not lying?”
“Why would I make up such an elaborate story like that? You can call William if you’d like, but I’m telling you the truth. Besides, I haven’t lied to you about anything so far.”
Her mouth dropped open before she quickly shut it. I mean, I wasn’t lying. I told her my real name, age, and that I knew her brother because he was, in fact, my best friend. I could’ve easily lied about that so that I could get to know her better, but I didn’t.
Natalie finally rolled her eyes at me before she huffed out a breath.
“Fine. I’ll do the interview with you, but don’t think for one moment you'll get a pass because of our accidental situation. I’m going to treat you like any other applicant.”
Walking towards the front door, she locked it and then motioned for me to follow her. It took everything in me not to stare at the beautiful ass she was blessed with. Biting my lower lip, I examined her some more. She had on high-waisted blue jeans with a black, short-sleeved turtleneck that was tucked in. Her hair was styled with curls that hung past her shoulders. Gold hoop earrings with a matching gold necklace complemented her reddish-brown complexion. A soft mix of golden brown and pink coated her full lips. The memory of running my fingers through her tresses and her plump lips wrapped around my dick as she deep throated me had me feening.
I briefly closed my eyes and thought about everything nonsexual to calm my dick down, but I was in a losing battle. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want her. I only got a taste of what we started before, and I wanted more. Natalie was beautiful, andher body was perfectly made for me. The way her full breasts sat up invitingly in her turtleneck had my mouth watering. The way her hips swayed and her ass bounced as she walked had me in a trance. What I’d do to have her bent over in front of me. I could see it now. Her ass clapping back against me as I pounded inside her.
Shit! Exhaling a breath, I immediately threw the thought out of my head. I needed to focus. Right now, Natalie was not the woman that I got to taste months ago. Right now, she was a business owner whom I was about to interview with. That’s all.
I followed Natalie to a sitting area and sat down across from her. Handing her a copy of my resume, I waited as she looked it over. It wasn’t like I was nervous. I mean, I had worked retail before while I was still in school and had pretty decent customer service skills. Granted, I didn’t like talking to people that much. Hell, I got a degree that would allow me to work in a field that had minimal human interaction and required me to work behind a computer all day. However, I wouldn’t mind working in a bookstore. People who loved reading books probably didn’t like small talk, anyway.
“So, you have some retail experience. That’s good. How do you feel about working overtime for a few days before the upcoming holidays?”
“I don’t mind. Honestly, anything to get me out of my parents’ house during the day.”
She raised an eyebrow but said nothing as she stayed focused on my resume. I shifted in my seat, and I could feel a small bead of sweat gathering at my hairline. Okay, I know I said I wasn’t nervous, but I may have been underestimating my feelings. The Natalie that I met at the lounge was a totally different person from the one who was before me. She was all about her business, and I had to admit, I was a little intimidated. Then again, that only made me want her more. No! That wasn’t why I was here, and I had to stop thinking about her in that way. After Natalie left me in the hotel, it was clear that what we did was a mistake.
“Dexter, why do you want to work here?” Natalie asked, looking up at me. “If I’m not mistaken, you recently graduated from college and can work anywhere. Don’t you want to work somewhere that focuses on your degree so you can build your experience and skills?”
A part of me wanted to lie, but the way her doe-like brown eyes were staring at me was making it hard. I shifted in my seat before clearing my throat.
“I’ll be honest with you, Natalie. Yes, I want to find a career around my degree, but I lied to my parents about what type of degree I achieved. You see, they own Green Tech, and they think I finished school so that I can take over the company. The thing is, I got my degree in software engineering and have been building a new gaming prototype to sell to an investor. Right now, they think I’m working in a smaller I.T. department at their corporation, and I need a job so that I am not sitting at their house all day working on my game.”
“Wow! It’s a good thing they didn’t announce what type of degree you received during graduation.”
