“Nice to see you, too.”
“Let me guess, you need something.” He perches his elbows on the desk, fingertips pressed together.
“Wow. You, Mr. Mayor, are a very smart man,” I respond sarcastically.
“What else do you want? I already gave you Welding.”
My mind flashes to the skinny shell of a man locked in my building. “This is something that will benefit both of us.” His eyes narrow at that, eyeing me with suspicion. I take out the file I prepared last night and place it on the table. “Everything you need to know is here. I know it will take a few days, but I want it done as soon as possible.”
“And if I don’t want to?”
I let out a huff. “We all need to do things we don’t want to sometimes. But I think this won’t be a problem for you.”
I drop the papers on his desk, turn on my heel and get the hell out of there. There’s one more stop I need to make on my way home.
CHAPTER 37
Alex
Leon is away the whole morning. I make myself lunch from the fully stocked fridge, but it doesn’t taste half as good as the breakfast he leaves out for me.
The door opens in the afternoon. Despite that, I stay in my room. I’d rather die than give him the satisfaction of knowing I was waiting for him, yet I’m bored out of my mind. There’s only so much trash TV I can watch before my brain is fried. Sharing the space with him and not being able to touch him has also started a different problem for me. A tingle deep in my core that begs to be extinguished.
Faintly, I hear his footsteps from the living room. It sounds like he’s moving stuff around. I mute the TV and stand closer to the door, perking my ears to hear what he’s doing. Fuck, I’m really going out of my mind.
Eventually, he retreats to his office. I wait a few minutes before leaving the room, curiosity getting the best of me. Besides, I can’t stay cooped up in that room any longer. I stop short of entering the large open space. At first, nothing is different. But then I notice the changes. The small table next to the door doesn’t host just a key bowl anymore. No, there’s a crystal next to it. Not anycrystal, a black tourmaline. I approach it, taking it into my hands. It barely fits into my palm, and it must weigh at least two pounds. My finger brushes the uneven surface, my heart swelling in my chest. It’s a protection crystal, one of the best ones. It’s believed it creates a protective barrier, which is why it’s often placed next to the entrance. I wear a much smaller version of it on me at all times, hoping it will help keep me safe.
My gaze trails the room before it lands on another crystal right next to the TV. A moonstone. The white mineral with luminous, milky white iridescence is smaller than the tourmaline, but it’s the largest specimen I’ve seen in person. It’s supposed to give you emotional clarity, helping you grow during life’s transitions.
A massive amethyst sits on the side table next to the sectional, picking my pulse up. The deep-purple cluster stone should bring you calm, and it must have cost a small fortune. My finger traces each one, as if checking they’re real.
Lastly, my eyes land on a rose quartz nestled on top of the kitchen island, where he usually leaves my breakfast. The beautiful pink stone symbolizes love and forgiveness. My eyes burn as I swallow around the lump in my throat. I grab the crystal and march into Leon’s office.
I don’t knock before entering, but he hardly seems surprised to see me. His gaze picks up, landing on the stone in my hand. I open my mouth to speak, but no words come out. His sleeves are rolled up, revealing delicious, tattooed forearms, and the top few buttons of his shirt are unbuttoned, rendering me speechless. That tingle turns painful, pulsing with need. Closing my eyes to get a grip, I blurt out, “What the hell is this?” My voice is lacking bite, and I think he notices, the corner of his lips hooking.
“A crystal.”
I let out a sigh, rolling my eyes. “No shit. But why the hell did you decorate your living room with crystals? Is that a new plan to make me forgive you? Because it’s not working.”
Leon glances at the pink quartz, as if he knows exactly what itrepresents. “I thought they would make you feel more comfortable in the space. You can move them if you want.”
All the misplaced anger that built up inside of me evaporates with a single sentence. He wanted to make me more comfortable in the space.
With a huff, I exit his office and retreat to my room, squeezing the gemstone with all my might. My body is a lake of overflowing, mixed emotions. I’m mad he had to hurt me, I’m touched by his gesture, I’m bored being held in this apartment, and I’m so, so horny. It could be the crystal’s fault. After all, it’s also considered an aphrodisiac.
It could also be the fact that I’m trapped in this room, staring at a pile of sex toys stacked on the vanity next to the closet. Or it could be the fact that I’m sharing an apartment with a man so sinfully attractive. A man who knows my body so well.
I let out a low groan, place the gemstone on the nightstand and reach for the stack of boxes. Avoiding the ones that seem too adventurous, I decide on the rabbit vibrator. I dig my way through the package, giving it a quick clean before removing my clothes and getting comfortable on the bed.
I spread my knees wide and place the vibrator between my lips, making sure it gets wet enough so it doesn’t hurt. Goosebumps prickle my skin as I turn the toy on and trace it down my body. The buzzing sound fills the room as my nipples pebble and my need grows larger. The vibrator circles my clit, and I let out a quiet whimper. This will be over quickly. Slowly, I push the toy inside of me, forcing my walls to stretch around it. The rabbit ears find their place on the hood of my clit, and my back arches off the bed. The vibrations shoot through, making my whole body tremble. My hips gyrate, and my fingers wrap themselves around an eager nipple, rolling it between them. In just a few minutes, an orgasm creeps up, starting from the bottom of my spine and spreading through the tips of my fingers and toes. I dig my teeth into my bottom lip to keep quiet, but a moan still breaks free.
When the trembles in my body ease, I place the toy on thenightstand next to me and drape an arm over my head. A hoarse voice on the other side of the door makes me freeze.
“Dinner’s ready.”
The air freezes in my lungs as my heart pumps wildly.Did he hear me?
