Chapter Forty-One
BAM
“How’s the new guy?” Josie asks, her hand tucked in mine. Our after-dinner evening walks have gotten to be a habit. Abe gets to sit on the recliner and watch the game show channel, and Josie and I get some alone time where we talk about the minutes of the day we didn’t spend together.
“He’s working out. Seems hungry.” I hesitate and then add, “Niki is moving on from the Riders.”
Josie halts suddenly. “I didn’t know you could do that.”
“I didn’t either. I’m not sure what deal he made, but he wants to start a security firm. Andy’s mom is going to help him set it up, file all the paperwork, find an office and stuff. He says it’s not so different than what we’ve been doing.”
“Does he want you to join him?”
I nod. “He made the offer.”
“What do you think?”
“I’m not sure. Security doesn’t sound real interesting to me. It’s a lot of standing around and watching people or sitting behind a computer and looking up people’s records online. I can’t see myself doing either of those things. I like being on the move.” I sneak a peek under my eyelashes to gauge her reaction. She doesn’t look disappointed, just thoughtful. Josie’s so smart, and I’m dying to know what her thoughts are.
“If you don’t like it, you shouldn’t do it.” She starts walking again, tugging me along.
“Just like that? You don’t think I should do something less… outside the lines?”
“If you’re happy, I’m happy.”
“What about Abe?”
Josie’s sweet laugh fills up the air. “I swear you love Abe more than me. Or at least you want his approval more than you care about mine.”
“That’s not true,” I protest. This time I’m the one that stops so I can lift her up against me. “I don’t want to kiss him like this.” I capture her lips and tongue her until she’s breathless and flushed. Her legs wrap around me as she kisses me back like we didn’t just have sex this morning in the shower while Abe was out getting donuts.
I let her slide down my body, ensuring she makes contact with my hard-on as she regains her footing.
“When is Dad cleared to go back on the road?” she murmurs against my chest.
Not soon enough. “Two weeks.”
She groans. “I’ll be revirginized by then.”
“We just had sex in the shower this morning,” I remind her. “You were facing the wall, and I took you from behind. You were slippery everywhere.”
She makes a face at me. “It slipped my mind.”
“It did not, you little tease.” I slap her ass. She wriggles it against my hand. This time I groan. “Fuck, do you want me to throw you down on the sidewalk? We could give the neighbors a show.”
“Sure, why not.” She slips her fingers between us and grabs my cock.
I lose any voice function for a moment as she slides her cupped fingers around my shaft. I tangle my hands in her hair and kiss her again. I can’t even remember what started this. My only thought is that I need to be inside of her again and again. This is how I want life to be. My dick in her hands, my tongue in her mouth, my head filled with her scent.
I lift her up again, this time just high enough so her hot pussy rubs against my shaft. I know we’re in the middle of the sidewalk and that some asshole will drive by and shout obscenities at us any minute, but I don’t care. A bomb could go off two feet away and I’d just tighten my hold on her and kiss her harder.
She tears her mouth from mine and smiles so big my heart nearly explodes. “I love you, Bam Conners. You know that, right?”
I nod. I do know it. Josie Gries, smartest girl to ever be born, hottest girl to ever appear under the sun, loves me, wants me.
“And I don’t care if you’re a Rider forever, if you sit at home and watch game shows twenty-four seven, or you put on a suit and defend criminals. I know that you’re a good person, and whatever you do will be good, too.”
My eyes feel itchy. I blink rapidly and then reply, a bit hoarse, “I’m not going to do anything you won’t be okay telling your dad about.”
