Catching her reflection in the mirror, I spotted her apprehensiveness.
“You aiight?”
She turned around, holding the glass under her chin. “Thank you for tonight.”
You could tell Eris was used to holding her own. And after finding out she’s raising two kids, her exterior was in survival mode. She wasn’t being taking care of, so tonight left her conflicted.
I cuffed her chin. “You ain’t gotta keep thanking me for that.”
Her gaze dropped.
I knew something was on her mind.
“Head up, chin up.”
Her eyes dragged to mine.
She opened her mouth to say something but declined.
“Tell me what you want, pretty teeth,” I said, my voice dropping.
“I wanna thank you for tonight,” she blurted, clutching her glass close to her chest. “My girls say I need to let loose. And I used to be that girl, but I have so much to lose–”
“So you play it safe?” I cut in, watching her.
“I’ve got kids to think about.”
I nodded. “Respect.”
“There’s something about you. I’m intrigued in the mystery.”
Her words hung in the air.
Moving closer, she had nowhere to run. With vodka on her breath and lust in her eyes, I saw her heart racing through her chest.
“You’re grown.” I placed her hand on my pants. “If you want the dick…”
Her eyes widened.
“Take this mothafucka.” I caressed her arm. “It’s on you.”
She swallowed hard. Thoughts racing, leaving her conflicted.
I felt the hesitation.
“You only get a birthday once a year, right?” She downed her drink. I smirked.
Grabbing the glasses, I sat them down. The city started to slow down below us. The halls losing its life from earlier. The room even grew quiet a bit.
Her nerves were on edge.
“It’s your world. Tell me what you want.”
She batted her lashes slowly and softly. “I want you to kiss me.”
I ran my hand through her hair, gripping the back of her head. Her head slowly fell into me and went for it. One kiss.
I pulled back.
