“I care for her,” I whisper, looking at him
seriously. “About them both.”
“That means that—”
“She’s the one I’ve been waiting my whole life
for.”
The silence that falls upon the room is
embarrassing, especially because the last words
said were mine and let’s just get it out there: it’s
not like me.
“Patrick, do you understand you’re about to
have someone else’s baby? That in a few months
she’s going to be a mother and everything is going
to change? Her life is going to be turned upside
down and yours is going to get dragged along with
it.”
“I’m already in this, Aaron. Completely. I am
fucking hers and I do not intend to go back on my
commitment.”
Rain runs to me and throws her arms around me
so hard that it leaves me winded.
“I knew it, I knew it,” she repeats as I hug her
back.
Liam stands and joins us in the hug and now
there are three of us. Jay literally jumps out of his
seat and throws himself at me and slaps my buzzed
head.
Aaron remains in silence another second before
asking me: “Are you by any chance in love with
her?”
Am I in love with her?
