Chase trusted her and wanted her. With his thrust and her gasp, two became one.

CHAPTERSIXTEEN

Franco Spatafore stood in his silk robe, shaking with outrage. “Why don’t you know exactly what time that Corvette parked in her driveway?” he demanded, sitting on the side of his bed, clutching the phone to his ear. “Why weren’t you on the job, Axel?”

“I had to go home and get some rest, Dr. Spatafore,” came the private investigator’s voice through the phone. “The subject has been gone for five days. How long did you expect me to twiddle my thumbs in her backyard?”

“As long as you had to!” Franco charged into his bathroom, tore open the medicine cabinet, and grabbed his Valium. He plopped a pill into his hand and tossed it down his throat.

“I’m in her neighborhood. What do you want me to do now?”

“Do you have the trackers with you?”

“Yes.”

“Then you know what to do!” Franco hung up and took a second Valium. Despite the fact that it was midnight, he rushed down the hall and threw open Mateo’s bedroom door. “She’s home.”

“Chase,I’m so glad I waited for you,” Jade told the handsome cowboy as he carried her down the hall to the bedroom. A nightlight that always came on at dusk gave them enough light to see each other. He kissed her before standing her on the hardwood floor beside her bed. “We made our very own fireworks.”

“Fireworks that kinda hurt?” he asked, placing his strong hands along her cheeks.

“Kinda,” she admitted softly. Then, smiling up at him, she purred, “Let’s do it again.”

Chase stretched and said, “Nah, I think I’ll go home.”

“Chase!” she gulped, hoping he was teasing her. With a chuckle, he grasped the comforter along with the top sheet and flipped them to the footboard of her queen-sized brass bed. She gave him a playful push, and he sprawled back across the mattress. “Stay.”

“C’mere.” Chase sat up and grabbed her hand. He yanked her into bed with him, and she giggled all the way. Tugging her on top of his naked, muscular body, he spread her legs with his knees. “Yeah, let’s do it again.”

Jade sizzled with desire as Chase moved her higher on his chest and then placed his male hardness on her most secret spot. Trailing his hands up her hips, he pressed her downward as he pushed into her body. He was teaching her and tantalizing her with every skilled touch, each passionate kiss, and every long, lusty thrust. When she followed his all-the-way-in plunges and almost-out slides, his hands moved to the sides of her breasts, and he sat her up. Straddling him, she’d trapped him deep inside her. Chase’s smile was slow and sexy. When he winked, she felt empowered. He was telling her she was in charge as much as he was. Her heart melted.

She’d already fallen for this man, but she plummeted deeper still.

Hands slipping under her fanny, he lifted her up and slid her back down all of his rock-hard inches. She raised and lowered, and the third time, when he was in to the hilt, he rolled her off him to her back. He whispered for her to wrap her legs around his waist, and with his help, she did so. His mouth came down on her, and their hands clasped on her pillow. Faster and harder, their hips met and parted. Lightening built between Jade’s legs until her body ignited in ecstasy.

“Yes, Chase, mmm,” She floated among the stars, feeling his hard, pulsing throbs deep inside her.

Chase groaned low in his throat as he filled her once-empty soul. When their hearts had finally slowed, he pulled his body out of hers. She unwrapped her legs from around him, and he rolled off her to the bed. He tugged her to him, and she rested her head on his broad shoulder. His arm came around her, and he kissed her forehead. Laying her hand on his chest, she slipped a leg between his. This felt so comfortable and natural she wanted time to stand still. She couldn’t imagine sleeping without Chase after spending last night and tonight in his arms. She didn’t want him to leave her when the sun rose. She had no hold on him, and he’d made no promises. The past five days had been heaven, followed by a hallelujah night. Twice.

“It’s gonna be hell not seeing you at my ranch tomorrow,” Chase said quietly.

“I don’t know how I’ll get through the day without you.”

“Good,” he said and gave her a squeeze. “Come out to the Triple C after work.”

“I’d love to.”

“Bring an overnight bag.”

“I will,” Jade tilted her head and smiled at him, her hopes soaring to the moon and beyond knowing she would see Chase again. “Anything else?”

“Condom, pill, or both?”

“Just the pill. I want it to feel exactly the way it did tonight.”

“Jade, you were every guy’s fantasy.”
