Her arms tighten around the back of my neck, and she buries her face in my shoulder. “Thank you, Ezra. Thank you for coming to my rescue.”
I hug her back, but gently, unsure of my strength.
“I’m glad you stopped when we asked. I don’t want to see that guy try to get you put away again.”
“Adley!”
My whole body stiffens at the sound of a voice at my back, but I start to relax when the distinct smell of an Omega surrounds us.
“It’s Izzy,” Adley whispers to me, and the rest of my tension subsides, almost completely.
I reluctantly let her go run to her friend, and I rise to my full height, feeling I’ve finally started to shrink a bit.
I have no idea how tall I got, but starting at six-foot-six, I’d guess I hit seven feet or more if I noticed the difference.
“You should be putting that monster in jail, not me!”
Beyond the barn doors, the cops have cuffed Tommy and are dragging him to the fence gate.
One of the officers asks if we’re going to press charges.
“Absolutely,” Adam tells him, tone firm and angry. “Trespassing, attempted assault, attempted animal abuse.” He takes his phone out. “We’ll be calling Mr. Finn’s attorney.”
My… what, now?
The cop exchanges a few more words with my pack and, to my surprise, some of the other packs we know, then leaves as Adam enters the barn, examining my form.
“I got the best attorney in Northern California to represent you. We’re all going to have to go to the police station shortly to give statements.”
“You going to be okay, brother?” Jasper comes up from behind Adam, his expression cautious.
Not that I blame him.
“Yeah. I’ll be fine. Because Adley is.”
All three of us look outside at our Omega, her hands connected with Izzy’s as they talk animatedly. I find myself smiling.
I probably shouldn’t be happy, but something tells me that we’re going to be okay. All of us.
Even me.
Chapter Thirty-Five
“Then you bashed him upside the skull with a bat?”
“And your Alphas came running to the rescue from all corners of town?”
My head bobs at Izzy and Violet’s questions, then Izzy sighs contentedly.
“Man, I love mated life.”
“Nothing beats it.”
The three of us all turn to Bec, her eyes going wide as she waves her hands in the air. “Hey, I’m still thinking through the pros and cons.”
“Think about this any longer, and you’ll all be old and gray before you decide.” Violet sounds amused as she leans back in the plush armchair, arm hugging her enormous baby bump.
I can’t imagine what it’s like to be pregnant with one baby, not to mention two. But, she’s a beautiful sight to behold.
