“Teegan,” He greets in a deep raspy voice. I check the time, not realizing it’s two in the morning, and I must’ve woken him up.
“Any word?”
“Uh, not yet.” He grumbles. “I went through security footage, nothing significant. And I’m waiting on his phone data to finish downloading to sift through that.” He clears his throat, “I was trying to get some sleep before the big bust tonight.”
Fuck! With Hayden’s accident, tonight slipped my mind. “Is the team ready?”
“Yep. I put our best guys on this task,” He assures.
“I appreciate it, man.”
After we get off the phone, I head upstairs to get my gear ready. Just as I’m strapping the bulletproof vest on, asleepy voice mumbles, “Ry?” She yawns and rolls over to her side to face me. “Where are you going?” She pushes herself up onto her elbows.
“I’ll be back, go back to sleep.” I step over to her, kissing her temple and pulling the covers back over her shoulders.
“I don’t think I can with you leaving dressed for war.” She argues.
“Everything is fine, I promise. Get some sleep.”
With that, I head out the door and make my way to my Noire parked in the garage. The engine roars to life, and I shift into reverse before hauling ass down the road. “Popular Monster” by Falling In Reverse blasts from the speakers. I light the joint I rolled earlier and place the burning herb between my lips. I need it before facing this bitch, or I might kill her prematurely.
I arrive at the discreet location an hour before she’s expected to arrive. Teegan strides toward me as I step out of the car. I parked inside the abandoned warehouse with the rest of the team.
“I’ve got the guys in position,” He says as he shows live street cam footage on his tablet.
“Where’s Tucker?”
“He’s currently restrained in the supply closet, but we need to discuss our plan for him.”
“Yeah,” I brush a hand through my overgrown hair, “She’ll know it’s a setup as soon as she gets here and doesn’t see him.” He nods in agreement. “I could kill him and prop him up in a car.”
He snaps his fingers, “I like that.” He pats me on the shoulder, “I’ll find you before it’s go time.”
I adjust the Rolex on my wrist, checking the time as I make my way across the warehouse to the storage closet.
“Tucker, Tucker,” I tsk, seeing him tied to the chair in the center of the closet with a white rag shoved between his teeth and tied with rope around his head.
He shakes violently in the chair, screaming through the gag. His face can’t get any more red before it explodes. I squat in front of his restrained feet.
“Do you know what’s about to happen, Tucker?”
His nostrils flare as he struggles to catch his breath. He eyes me with fear and hatred. I pat his knee before standing and walking behind him. He starts panicking again and screaming something into the gag, but I can’t understand a damn thing. I also don’t give a fuck what he has to say.
I look around the closet to see if there’s anything useful in here. I spot an old roll of trash bags on a shelf and grab one.Perfect.
“I’ll make this as painless as possible.” I want to inflict as much pain and suffering on the bastard as he caused Kelsey and her parents, but he needs to at least look alive in the car. He thrashes wildly in the chair, but gets nowhere. I shake the bag out dramatically behind him. He can’t see it, but he knows exactly what it is. People fear more what they can’t see.
I slip the bag over his head, pulling it tightly around his face and sealing it with a tight knot at the base of his neck.I step back and walk back around him to face him. He’s already inhaled all the oxygen out of the bag, so it’s suctioned to his face with his mouth gaping open.
“I wanted nothing more than to make you live out every bit of suffering you’ve caused us,” I exhale loudly, “But of course, you ruined that for me too.” I glance down at my watch. He should be out any moment now. “Consider this me beingnice.”
His body goes lax, his head drooping forward. Once his chin hits his chest, I push off the wall and press my fingers to his neck, checking for a pulse. He’s dead. Now to set him up before rigor mortis kicks in.
Back inside the warehouse, T and I wait for Lilith’s arrival. Bugs were placed on Lilith’s jet, and their SUV’s they are driving here, so we know exactly where they are. She has five men with her, so I predicted everything perfectly. We have snipers surrounding the lot, each having a perfect angle on their target. Everyone dies except Lilith. She’s coming with me.
“They’re pulling in,” Teegan announces into the Bluetooth.
