“Then, when you’re ready, our relationship will include sex and lovemaking. Come on, Baby girl.”

His words thrilled her. Vex wasn’t saying no; he was giving her time. But she already understood what, well, who she needed. Vex.

Vex stood and held out his hand for hers. When Angel set her palm on his, he tightened his fingers around hers firmly. Leading her down the hall, Vex opened a closed door for her. She peeked and quickly dashed inside to check out the nursery.

“This is so neat!” Turning in a circle, she checked out the swirly blue walls with cartoon-style sea animals painted on them.

“Wow! There’s a seal! She and Sammie could be twinsies!”

“Who’s Sammie, Angel?”

“My stuffie. I love her. She looks like this. How did you know?”

“I had fun decorating this, hoping my Little girl would love the sea creatures. Where is Sammie? Is she in your father’s house?”

“No. She’s in my apartment.” Angel froze at the thought of leaving the compound. Her voice dropped to a panicked whisper. “That’s where they grabbed me. I’d just gotten out of my car. Three guys jumped me.” She rubbed her head. One man’s blow had scrambled her mind, keeping her from fighting back.

“You’re definitely not returning there. I’ll send someone to get some clothes for you and bring Sammie to you.”

“I don’t have my keys. They won’t be able to unlock the door,” she said.

“Don’t worry about that. He’ll get inside.” Vex held her close with one arm and pulled his phone out with the other. He scrolled through his contacts before pressing one.

“Street. I need you to go to Angel’s apartment and grab some things for her.”

Angel could hear the other man talking but couldn’t make out the words.

“I don’t have a key. Take lockpicks. Bring some clothes. An assortment of everything a woman needs. Jeans, tops, casual shoes, socks, underwear, bras. Whatever you think someone would pack.”

Squirming, Angel worried about someone going through her stuff. Her intimate possessions.

“Check for a stuffed seal. Hold on.”

Vex asked Angel, “Do you need medicine or anything from the bathroom?”

“My makeup would be great. It’s in a pink makeup case in the linen closet in the bathroom.” She hesitated for a moment before saying, “I’d love my blue fuzzy slippers. If… If grabbing them isn’t too much trouble. There’s a suitcase in the hall closet, if that would help.”

“Did you get that, Street?” Vex listened and said, “I owe you one. I’ll text you the location.” He disconnected and handed her his phone. “He’ll need your address, Baby girl.”

Almost quivering with excitement at the thought of holding Sammie, Angel typed in her address and apartment number. She added TY before sending the message. A second later, she added, “Be careful.”

“He’s going to take a truck from the warehouse. If the Ravagers want revenge, they’ll look for bikers. Street will go with backup. He’ll be fine.”

She was torn between wanting him to be safe and concerned about having guys handling her things. Surely, they wouldn’t snoop through her stuff, other than searching for clothes. Granted, they’d have to go through her drawers and closet to get her things.

Vex chose Street. He trusted him. She would have to do the same. Returning the phone to Vex, she wrapped her arms around herself. Think about holding Sammie.

After putting his phone in his pocket, Vex hugged her close to his side. “What would you change in your nursery?”

“I love the decorations.” Angel scanned the room. This time she noticed the furniture. In the books she’d read, Daddies had cribs and other pieces sized for adults. She walked toward the beautiful railed bed and ran her fingers over the smooth, light brown wood. The piece of furniture matched the room perfectly, resembling driftwood. Instantly, she was curious.

“Would you like to climb in and see what the mattress feels like?” Vex suggested.

Nodding eagerly, Angel let him lift her onto the soft comforter. She smoothed her hands over the soft bedding before stretching out and looking up at the ceiling. “Vex! You even painted the sky!”

“I’d love for you to call me Daddy, Baby girl.”

“Daddy?” Her heart leapt at the sound coming from her own lips.
