“It’s interesting they’d put a tracking device on her,” Hudson commented. He leaned closer, clasping his hands together.“It makes me wonder if they were planning to bring her out often.”
“Except they dressed her in different clothes then.I saw the footage from the nightclub. They put her in a tiny little dress,” Harrison said, irritation coursing through him once more. They’d treated Luciana as nothing more than an object, as if she wasn’t a person with opinions and feelings.Wants and needs. He wanted to rip their heads off for holding her prisoner.
“I’ll bring Avery by to help her get settled in,” Ryan said.“Seeing a familiar face will help make her more comfortable. She’s going to be completely overwhelmed once she finally comprehends what’s happened.Going from captivity to freedom is huge.”
“I know,” Harrison said quietly.“She’s handling it remarkably well so far, but it’s going to be quite a shock once reality sits in.Especially given she’s in a new country, in a new environment. She doesn’t have anything.”He clenched his fist, anger lacing through him.
“Avery and I will contact Doctors Without Borders and see about having her things shipped.I believe they were boxed up.”
“You serious?”Sawyer asked.
Ryan nodded.“I’m sure they figured she wouldn’t return to that nursing position, even if she was found.”
“First thing they’ve been spot on about,” Sawyer muttered.
“Aside from the shady doctor, I don’t think the organization itself had anything to do with Avery and Luciana’s kidnapping,” Harrison said.
Their conversation was interrupted by the pilot, his voice suddenly coming into their headsets.“ETA is oh-seven-hundred Hawaiian time. We’ll be landing in approximately fifty minutes.”
Harrison clicked his mic.“Roger that.”
“What did you think about deploying with the team, commander?”Hudson asked, a gleam of amusement in his eye.“We could always use another man on the ground.”
“Not a chance,” Harrison said smoothly.“This was a one-time occurrence.”
Sawyer chuckled.“I’d say you held your own, sir.”
“Doesn’t mean I’m ready to repeat it,” he replied.
Luciana’s sudden cry from the front of the plane had Harrison quickly rising to his feet, and then he was moving toward her, all other thoughts pushed aside.
