When I’m done, I close my pants and tuck his briefs inside my jacket—I can use them later for another jerking lesson. I lift his lip balm and spread a generous amount over my mouth. He doesn’t use it much, but I’ve been wondering about the fragrance. My tongue comes out to get a taste. Peach. Of course. I put it back where I found it and grab my phone from the bed. I take pics of his diary’s last entry, even though every page is imprinted in my head.

I look at the time and curse. I’m ten minutes late, but there’s no sign of Sully. Where is he?

The tracker app shows me he is a block from here. His lateness saves me from being caught red-handed. I slide the diary back under the mattress, and after giving the room one last glance, I pull up my hoodie and get out. The hallway is empty. I quickly make my way down to the first floor and exit the building.

When I lift my head, I see him. Twenty feet away from me. I’m not hiding in the dark this time, and he’s getting closer and closer, not sensing the hunter right in front of him. His face is down, eyes on his phone as he keeps walking my way. His cheeks are rosy, and with that yellow knitted hat down over his ears and the oversized coat, he looks all cuddly and defenseless. He trips a little, and I nearly rush over to him.

The urge to touch him hits hard. It’s building like a campfire in my guts. But instead of listening to it, I take a step back and then another, until I’m looking at him entering his dorm from the other side of the building.

“Walking while texting, can you believe him?” The voice is too close to my liking but familiar, that’s why I keep my hand loose when I wrap it around Ren’s neck and thrust him against the brick wall.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” I slowly ask him with a chilling tone.

Those mirrored glasses are ridiculous, but I like seeing my reflection in them. I look detached and in control, with a menacing vibe coming out of me.

“Let me go, and I’ll tell you.” He cockily smirks at me. “Unless you like having a knife up your belly.”

My lips twitch with amusement when I feel the tip of his ridiculously small knife under my hoodie. He is fast but has no chance against me.

“Had real thugs threatening me with real weapons and even then I didn’t back off. Now lower it down, or you won’t be able to have more fun around campus.” I tighten my hand around his throat and start to push my seven-inch knife right against his groin.

He cusses but doesn’t back down. Idiot. If he thinks I’m bluffing, he’ll learn the truth the hard way. I enjoy killing, the rush of taking a life, the power over another person's destiny, but I’m not a moron. As I said there are eyes everywhere. Murders need to be premeditated to be perfect in most cases. Plus I don’t like the mess.

I feel the sharp tip of my blade making its way through the jeans as I keep pressing. He does the same with his toy knife, but I don’t move back to avoid it—like he’s doing—I push against it. I smile at the sting caused by the metal tip piercing my skin.

“You are fucking kooky,” he suddenly spits out. His arm moves back, his slightly bloodied knife resting near his side.

“Didn’t you hear? I’m a psycho,” I growl, letting go of his neck.

“Can you release my dick?” He still has that annoying cocky tone. It makes me want to keep pushing my blade forward. But I need to know why he was hiding in the shadows.

I take a step back and sheath my knife behind my back.

“Fuck! You made a hole in my jeans,” he whines.

“Like I fucking care.”

He clicks his tongue. “I can clearly see the resemblance to Uri now.”

Fuck that. “Why are you here?”

“I go to this university,” he retorts, lifting a scarred eyebrow in challenge.

I fucking hate wasting time with useless words. Intimidation always loosens a stubborn tongue. I move my hand back to unsheathe my blade again, but Ren’s next statement halts my fingers.

“I’m doing the same as you. I’m just checking on Sully.”

I let out a growl. How did he find out? Did Ramiel tell him? But I have a more pressing question. “Why would you need to check on Sully?”

“You don’t know?” He sounds surprised. “What kind of lame stalker are you?”

“I’m an elite assassin. I’ve already mentally killed you a hundred times and gotten rid of your body in thirty ways no one would ever find you, not even your brothers. Talk,” I snarl the last word.

“Impressive. I could only come up with a couple.” He pats my shoulder. “Let’s get perched on your peeping branch and I’ll tell you everything.”

He takes a few steps toward the oak tree, but turns around when I don’t follow him. “Look, I know you can’t hurt me because that would turn you into enemy numero uno with the bros. And right now, that’s not what you want. So let’s be civil.”

My brain has been trying to find an angle to exploit since I saw him. I need to flip this situation around and find out what he knows.
