“My friends told me it is customary to kiss your date goodnight before departing. Would that be alright with you? I would very much like to kiss you.”

It takes me a moment to process what Maki is asking me but when I understand, I can’t help but smile. My insides are practically vibrating with how happy I am. Fuck. This means Kei was right and I justknowhe’s going to be insufferable. More than usual.

Oh well, I’ll deal with that later. Right now, I have a beautiful man in front of me, asking for a kiss.

“I would very much like that too,” I finally say, tilting my head up for Maki.

One of his hands touches my shoulder, the other goes to my cheek. His fingers are so long, his palms so big, yet Maki touches me with such gentleness. He leans down, pressing his lips against my own. Our lips fit together so well that my head spins. Now, my knees really do grow weak. I stay upright, but only just barely.

When Maki pulls back, I want to chase after him. Surely we can kiss just a little, just a little bit more. I crave him like I’ve never craved anything before. One kiss and I’m addicted.

I open my eyes, finding Maki staring down at me, his lips quirked up into a tiny smile. His hand leaves my shoulder, touching his own lips.

“I want to do that again,” he murmurs, the apples of his cheeks pink. How was it possible for him to become even more beautiful? Fuck me sideways.

“Then please do,” I say, tilting my head up once more.

To my disappointment, Maki takes a step back. “My friend, Oli, told me it’s important to leave you wanting more,” he says softly. “I’m not sure if I should be taking advice from him as he’s perpetually single but with this, I think he may be correct. It will make our second kiss even more special.”

My heart is hammering inside my chest at Maki’s words. I swallow thickly, doing my best to calm myself down instead of throwing myself at the man in front of me.

“I’m okay with that, as long as you promise therewillbe a second kiss.”

“There will be if I have anything to do about it.”

I grin, my cheeks hurting from how wide it is. I take a step back. Then another. “Okay,” I say softly, raising my hand in a little wave. I probably look like a dork but I don’t care. “Then I’ll see you when you get back, right?”

“Yes,” Maki says, waving as well. “When I get back we’ll go on another date.”

“Perfect.”

“Alright.”

“Good luck at your game, Maki. I’ll be cheering you on.”

Maki smiles. “Good luck with your stream.”

Finally, almost in sync, we turn around and start heading in opposite directions. I feel like I’m on cloud nine all the way back to my house, the smile on my face feeling permanent. That is, until my roommates jump on me the moment I step through the door.

“Oh my gods,” Kei says, his voice coming out in a disgusted hiss, his eyes narrowed at me.

“You were so right,” Rodney says, shoving Kei. “Look at that smile on his face. Our boy has foundlove,” he says, pretending to wipe a tear from his eye.

“Disgusting,” Kei says and I can tell he’s only half teasing. “Please fuck athisplace. You know how sensitive my nose is!”

“But I want to meet him,” Rodney says with a whine.

I hold up my hands, stopping them both. “You’re harshing my good mood,” I say with a pout. “And it’s just one date! It’s not like we’re getting mated this second! You both need to chill!”

“I’m so happy for you,” Rodney cheers, throwing himself off the couch so he can hug me. “You look so happy.”

“I think I am?”

Kei snorts. “Why do you sound so confused about it?”

“I just wasn’t expecting this,” I say honestly.

“Whatever. I’m buying more scent blocker spray just in case. I don’t trust either of you to not stink the place up.”
