“Yes,” I say.

Because now that I’ve seen it—

I can’t unsee it.

Aaron steps closer. “What kind of cost?”

I look back at the screens.

At the system that’s already starting to notice me noticing it.

And I know.

“Access,” I whisper.

Then, quieter—

“Control.”

And somewhere deep in the system—

something shifts.

Like it just became aware…
