“God damn,” I growl, pinning her wrists to the mattress as she squirms against my cock, draining out the last bits of come from the both of us.

“I don’t want you to move,” she whines. “I feel so empty when you’re not inside of me.”

“Jesus Christ,” I growl into her neck as I scrape my teeth against her shoulder. “I need you.”

“I need you too, Ryker.” She’s barely said the words when the front door swings open without a knock.

Fuck!

Ivy stares up at me and grins like a little cheshire cat who knows how naughty she’s been. “I’d still say we win the game. We did finish before he walked in.”

I kiss her forehead and pull out of her tight, little pussy with a groan. “Let me talk to him. This is my fault.”

“No,” she rolls up from the bed, her pale blonde hair tangled behind her, “I did this too. We need to face this together.” Her words are thoughtful and kind, laced with the same care for me she always has.

“Okay,” I kiss the top of her head as she slides her clothes back on, “but if things get difficult, I need you to let me handle it. You’re mine to take care of, remember?”

“I remember.” She nods slowly and tips up onto her toes, landing a kiss on my lips before we step out of the room and head toward the kitchen where Benny sits waiting, his head hanging low as he picks apart a three-day-old glazed donut.

I should probably throw those things away at this point.

“You two don’t quit, do ya?” Benny snarks under his breath without looking up.

“Benny,” Ivy pulls out a chair at the table and leans in toward her brother, “I know this is super awkward, and believe me, I didn’t see it coming either, but I—”

“I love Ivy, Benny,” I interject. “I love her like I’ve never loved anyone. She’s—”

“My baby sister. Someone who’s twenty-five years younger than you. A young woman that has her whole life ahead of her and doesn’t need some old man tying her down.”

“He’s not an old man, Benny.” Ivy reaches for her brother’s hand, like she’s trying to get his attention. “And why does age matter, anyway? He loves me, I love him, we have a ton in common, and we—”

“In common?” Benny laughs. “What the fuck do you two have in common, aside from fucking?”

“The farm, the land, the chickens, the horses, a family.” Ivy glances up at me before returning her gaze toward her brother. “We want the same things.”

“You can’t have kids with that man,” Benny scoffs. “He’ll be dead before they’re out of high school.”

“Benny stop!” Ivy snaps the words and stands from the table. “I love him, okay? That’s it. I don’t want to lose you, but if you make me choose, I’ll choose Ryker.”

“That’s great, Ivy.” Benny stands from the table and rolls his eyes before pacing the room. “Just great.”

“Look,” I add, my tone as placid sounding as I can manage, “we love you. This wasn’t a conscious choice. It was feelings. A whole shit ton of feelings that had been building up for a long time. If I could’ve turned them off, I would’ve.”

Benny chews at the inside of his cheek before leaning up against the back wall to stare out at the darkening valley. For a while, he doesn’t speak. He doesn’t say a damn word.

Ivy and I glance toward each other, talking with our eyes, trying to figure what the next move is. I don’t want to be aggressive. I certainly don’t want to lose him.

I count every drip of the sink, all two hundred and forty drops, before he finally speaks again.

“I don’t agree with this.” He pauses and grabs his jacket off the hook by the door. “She’s too young for you, you’re too old for her, and this whole damn thing is going to make everything super awkward.” He slides his arms into his long tweed coat and buttons the first button. “However, I love you both, and if this is how you want to ruin your lives, who am I to stand in your way.”

It’s not the most eloquent acceptance, but I’ll take it.

Ivy grins and barrels into her brother’s chest with a squeal. “You’ll see… everything will work out great.”

“Just promise me you’ll give it a minute before you run off and get married. I don’t think I can take that yet.” He squeezes Ivy. “I’m happy you’re happy, and I’m happy you have someone looking out. I know Ryker would never let anything bad happen to you.”

I nod toward my best friend, thankful for his blessing.
