He wasn’t a small dude, but I had him by a few inches and about twenty pounds. I could knock his ass out with one hit if I chose to.

“Fair warning?” he said, looking at me confused.

“Ay, what the fuck are you, a parakeet or something? No wonder Sophie left your ass. You can’t even hold a fucking conversation.”

His face hardened and he let out a cocky laugh. “She didn’t leave me and you being here only proves that. If you’re so confident about how Sophie feels, why are you here? You shouldn’t have to threaten me to ensure she keeps slumming it with you.”

“Me being here don’t have shit to do with my lack of confidence in what Sophie wants. She made that clear last night.” I smirked. “And this morning, when I was stretching that pussy just the way she likes. She was very vocal about who she wants.”

“Typical. How do you think she would feel about you discussing her that way? It might be fun to you, but you’re potentially ruining her life. I don’t expect you to understand that.”

“If being with me ruins her life I’m sure she would tell me. She’s happy, something your pussy ass wouldn’t understand, but that’s not why I’m here. I’m here because my business is none of yours, and if you were that concerned about who I am as a person, your pussy ass should have been a man and just come to me. That’s some bitch shit you pulled, going to Sophie.”

He laughed like he owned the world. “You people function like that. My concern was Sophie. I don’t give a fuck about you. With one phone call I can ruin your entire life and everyone you?—”

I reached for my gun and shut his ass up quickly when I grabbed him and threw him against his nice ass Mercedes, forcing the barrel into his mouth. “You think you can ruin my life with a phone call, but IknowI can ruin yours with one bullet. Would you like to test that theory?”

His eyes were wide as hell as he shook his head. “See, here’s the thing, Sophie is no longer your concern, she’s mine. I don’t like knowing you’re lurking around her, fucking up her happiness. This is your warning. Stay away from her. I won’t say it again, next time I’ll just make your absence from her life permanent.”

I pushed my gun further into his mouth and held it there for a moment longer, causing him to gag before I removed it and stepped back. I then grabbed his tie and wiped my gun clean while he just stared at me, likely scared to even breathe at this point.

“Have a nice day, and you might want to change that tie before you go. I’m sureyourpeople take pride in dressing the part.” I delivered a cocky grin then walked away.

For his sake, I hoped he got the message, but if not, fuck it. I had no issues making his pussy ass disappear.

As soon as the elevator doors opened into Sophie’s apartment, she stood there glaring at me. Her Louis luggage was at her feet, but she damn sure didn’t look happy. I had a feeling Lincoln’s bitch ass would call her to tell her what went down. As long as he hadn’t shown up at her place, I was cool. I would just make sure she blocked his ass.

“You ready?” I asked after I kissed her cheek and reached for her suitcase.

“Did you go see Lincoln this morning?”

After I had her leather duffle over my shoulder and her suitcase in my hand, I looked her square in the eyes. “Yes, now are you ready to go?”

I turned to walk off and she didn’t move.

“Why would you do that? I told you I didn’t care about any of that, but you went to his house and pulled a gun on him?”

“I didn’t kill him,” I said casually after I pressed the button to open the elevator. “Let’s go, Sophie, we have an hour to get to the airport.”

“Trooper, why are you acting like that’s not a big deal?” She raised her damn voice, but I kept calm.

We were about to fly to Jamaica and I wouldn’t ruin that by arguing with her about another muthafucker.

“Why the fuck are you acting like it is?” I asked calmly.

“Because it is. You can’t do stuff like that, not to?—”

“Don’t even say that shit, Sophie, because you will piss me the fuck off. You said you know who I am, right? And that it doesn’t matter to you?”

“Yes, but?—”

“No buts, that motherfucker was disrespectful, not only to me but to you. I don’t give a fuck that he called in favors to find out about my past. Hell, if he had asked, I would have told him. I’m not embarrassed, but what I care about is that he brought this to you. You’re mine, my concern, my responsibility, and I don’t take that lightly. Everything about you is my concern, and if you don’t understand that, you don’t know me, Sophie. I’ll handle every man who thinks he has the right to be in your presence. Whether they are trying to make you happy or fuck up your day, it don’t matter. That’s my job, and my job only. So, no, it’s not a big deal that I checked his ass, but it is a big deal to me ifyou’re more worried about him than you are about me. Now I’m going to ask you one more time if you’re ready to go and the next thing out of your mouth will determine if I put this shit down and get on that plane by my damn self. So think about it before you answer.”

I paused and waited. Sophie released a simple yes just as the elevator opened. I stepped in and held it for her and she followed. I was done talking about it and hoped she knew better than to bring it up again.
