I burst out laughing and she frowned at me. “What’s so funny?”

“You are. You do realize you just said fucking two times in the last two minutes. You channeling your inner gangster?”

“Hell yeah, I am. I’m his little OG and you better be Trooper’s.”

“Girl stop. The only thing gangster about me is the man I’m in love with. This baby I’m carrying is probably more gangster than I’ll ever be because it has fifty percent of his DNA. I can only be who I am.”

“And I love who you are, so don’t change.” Trooper’s deep voice bounced off the walls, causing me and Maddie both to look his way.

Los was behind him, but had his phone to his ear, which made Maddie frown at him.

“What’s my baby doing?” Trooper questioned the second he was near me.

Leaning down over my body, he forced me back enough to plant kisses on my stomach before he worked his way up to my neck, then my lips.

“Your baby is resting peacefully and I’m good too. Thanks for asking.”

Trooper chuckled and sat down next to me. I’m not worried about you, ’cause if you ain't right, I got something to fix that, but my hands are tied with this one.” He slipped his hand under my shirt and rubbed my stomach. “I can’t do shit for him, so that’s all on you right now.”

“Fuck you mean it ain't right? Why the fuck is that?” Carlos yelled before he turned his back to us and left the room.

I glanced at Maddie, who looked tense.

“Shit is crazy right now. He’s good, don’t worry about that,” Trooper said and winked at her.

“I’m not,” Maddie said, trying to sound like she wasn’t concerned, but Trooper and I both knew better.

He laughed and nodded. “Yes the fuck you are, but it’s cool, you’ll get used to it. He be all in his feelings when shit don’t go right, and right now he’s got a lot going on. Speaking of that, we’re sending both of you to Jamaica for a week.”

“Sending us?” I frowned and looked at him. That didn’t sound good. As much as I’d enjoyed our trip last time, I really didn’t want to go without him.

“Yeah, sending.” He gave me a look that said don’t debate him, but I wasn’t that person.

“You can’t send me anywhere and does that mean you don’t plan on going?”

Trooper laughed sarcastically and looked me right in the eyes. “I can and will, and no, I’m not going. Just you, Maddie, and your mother, and before you say some fucked up shit, just listen…”

He looked up as Los entered our bedroom again. “There’s a lot going on right now. It’s complicated as fuck and too much to explain.

There are some things we need to take care of and it will be a lot easier if we know you’re not stuck in the middle.”

“But what if something happens to you? And I’m barely even talking to my mother right now. Who’s to say she’ll even want to go?”

“First of all, you can’t do shit for me if anything goes down anyway, but I’m good, Sophie. I can take care of myself.”

“And he got me. You know I ain't gon’ let anything happen to his crazy ass.” Los winked at me.

“Well, I’m all for a girls’ getaway. I think after everything that’s been going on, we need it. And since Alana’s going, I think I’ll invite your mother,” Maddie said, causing all of us to look at Carlos.

“Oh, hell no. fuck that, and let’s go. I have something I need to take care of anyway,” Los said, like it wasn’t up for debate.

“Something like what?” Maddie asked with raised brows.

“Business is what, now let’s go so I can get it taken care of, then fuck this instigating out of you. Apparently, you need a reality check.”

“Really?” Maddie yelled as her face blushed.

Trooper chuckled and stood.
